I’d rate this book 8/10 (4★/5). I found it a really interesting way to tell a story, weaving different timelines and perspectives together. The characters felt well drawn and grounded, and I thought the romance element was handled in a believable way without being over the top.

The historical sections were enjoyable, though sometimes they felt more like background touches than fully developed moments but that made sense, since the book isn’t really aiming to be historical fiction.

I actually really liked the ending. It’s a little open to interpretation, but at the same time it provides a satisfying conclusion that ties things together. Overall, it mixes fantasy with realism in a way that feels natural and keeps the focus on the people at the centre of the story.

I really enjoyed this. I know some people love this book more than anything and it didn’t quite hit that mark for me but I really liked it. I loved seeing the story through present and past Addie and from Henry as well.

For how long it was, this book had the potential to be so incredibly boring, but it wasn’t! The writing style made it so easy to be immersed in the story that although nothing much happens outside the main premise, I was never bored. However, it is quite comical that in the CENTURIES this woman was alive and in the 540 pages that this book had, she didn’t have a single solid interaction with a POC lol(• ε •)...

A charming and unusual story about a young woman who makes a deal with the devil. Addie LaRue wants to live but her desire for freedom comes at a great cost. Locked in a perpetual test of wills with the “darkness”, this book follows Addie’s life through multiple cities and over 300 years starting in 1714, France. I loved the premise of the story but I found the bulk of the book a little too long and the storyline circular and repetitive with the most enjoyable part being the last 100-150 pages.
