Beautifully written - descriptions were elegant and classical and not overdone. V. E. Schwab does a wonderful job of setting a scene. I enjoyed the plot, theme and characters very much. Was a sad depressing read at times but I believe that was Addie’s “life”.

There were parts of this book I really enjoyed - but oh boy did the second half draaaag. Also the writers use of repetition ('Addie. Addie. Addie') really got on my nerves towards the end as it was just used so frequently. I'll be honest, it's reads like a fanfic.

La prose de V.E. Schwab est magnifique. Ça m'a pris un moment pour accrocher à l'histoire en la lisant en audio, mais l'idée est tellement originale et les personnages tellement attachants et humains (même ceux qui ne le sont pas totalement). J'ai adoré!

This story is slower to start as the author lays the groundwork for a story that is all together heart wrenching, will have you cheering for the protagonist, and is sure to leave it’s mark. “Small places make for small lives. And some people are fine with that. They like knowing where to put their feet. But if you only walk in other people’s steps, you cannot make your own way. You cannot leave a mark.” #IrememberAddie
