This novel was such a hype that I took my sweet time getting to it...
Maybe it didn't work as much for me as it did for plenty other readers, but I really enjoyed it anyway. I read it in French in an edition for YA, so I'm not certain it wasn't translated in a way that should appeal more to a younger public (I've made such comparisons before with Sarah J. Maas, better read in the original text).
I felt it was sometimes too long, with repetitions (those dark locks !), but Addie is 300 years old, so repetitions are bound to happen. However, I did love the story and the characters, and can understand why people adored it.

This is a beautifully written book exploring the idea of what it means to live a life. How we leave our mark on this world is our legacy. Even in small insignificant ways. It was interesting to imagine what it would be like to be truly forgettable.
Had to hold back my tears, while finishing the book in the train. It’s such a beautiful ending.
The book‘s mainly focused on the characters and their fate and at some points I was able to guess the plot. However, I‘ve enjoyed it a lot. At first, I thought it might be annoying because of the time jumps but I was wrong. After finishing the book, I have to say how well written it was. V. E. Schwab is an amazing writer and I‘m excited to read more books written by her.

damn the devil is super horny.
not a bad book at all, just lacked a lot of character insight which generally made me not give a fuck about any of them. Very easy to read tho. I hate when books do the thing this book did at the end, feels so wanky.

This wasn't a terrible read at all. It took me a hot minute to get hooked. Once I was, I looked forward to being able to continue the story. This was the first book I read by V.E. Schwab and all I can say is I really had to think with this book. What would you sell your soul for? I don't know how to answer that even now. I can also see why the deals were made. I also love that the ending wrapped it up while also leaving me curious. Overall, I enjoyed the read and I'm open to reading more V.E. Schwab books. This was a good introduction to this author.
