Totally amazing read overflowing with raw emotions! 5 Huge Stars! Full review coming.

Ivy and Lukas' story was a masterpiece. Not age, children or exes will stop these two soulmates from having their happily ever after. Each book I read from Carian Cole becomes my favorite. Love this series and cannot wait to read more.

Carian Cole has once again delivered another powerhouse read in this Asher and Embers series! Lukas and Ivy’s story hit me in straight in the feels. I loved watching Ivy come into her own and focus on Ivy the woman not just the mother. Peeling back the layers of Lukas and seeing the man beneath left me slayed in the best ways and truly broke my heart at times. Despite everything he’s been through, he still is willing to risk his heart for love and it was such a beautiful thing. This book was emotionally charged with crazy twists and turns that leaves you reeling. An addictive must read that I could not put down.

This was rather meh.

So far this series has been a miss, this is the 3rd installment and while I rated Storm 3.75 stars, Vandal and Lukas have both been 2 or 3 stars and neither have been a fantastic reading experience.

Ivy is a 36/37 year old woman who has recently found her husband as been cheating on her for a year. They've been going through a divorce, while still trying to co-parent their 2 kids. During one evening when Ivy has decided to get a tattoo, something her husband has very much looked down upon, she meets Lukas, her 24 year old tattoo artist and occasional member of a band and they are both instantly attracted but Ivy has her reservations.

Let me say that I loved Lukas, the character, he was so sweet, mature, and someone that I would love to date. He may look the part of the "bad boy" with piercings, tattoos, a tattoo artist, in a band, and has muscles but he was a teddy bear. And the guy has a raven, how cool is that!

However, Ivy is the main thing that dragged this down for me. She got on my nerves. I wouldn't have minded if she had joked occasionally about her age and said that she was old and I wouldn't have minded if she occasionally thought about the age difference between them. That was not the case though. Pretty much every chapter she in some way thought negatively about her body or her age...which wasn't that old. She's only 36 or 37, barring sudden illness or an accident she has, at least, another 40/50 years in front of her. Modern medicine has made sure of that.

Then Ivy rarely thought bad about Paul, her soon to be ex husband. Every time she thought about him cheating she blamed the woman that he cheated on her with. Yes, the other woman knew Paul was married, knew Paul's family but she doesn't have a relationship with Ivy, Paul does. And Ivy was such a push over when it came to so many people and things, her friends and Paul would talk about Lukas and she wouldn't call them out, wouldn't tell them to stow that crap.

And the date...non-date-date thing, just frustrated me. She says she's not wanting to date right now, ok, I respect that, she's not ready. However she agrees to go out with a guy from her work, who has been asking her out for a while. Now she's the HR manager for the company she works for, I don't think she's allowed to do that as an HR anything. Then she constantly lies to anyone asking and says it's not a date...yet every time she thinks on it, it's a date. How can she be this dumb?

Probably the part I hated the most was when
SpoilerMacy lied and set Lukas up. I can understand wanting to believe your daughter. I would have put Macy in my car, told Lukas I would talk to him soon to get his side of things but first I would get my daughter's side and go from there. If she had just pushed Macy a little she probably would have revealed the whole thing but instead she pushes Lukas away and then waits a month to get her daughter's side. Why did she wait a month to get her daughter's side? Because Macy didn't came home, instead she stayed at a friends house for that whole month. Why didn't Ivy drag her butt home? Who cares if she's 18, she lives under her roof, Ivy owns the air she breathes. And Ivy even defends Paul and says Paul would never be that underhanded...excuse me? He cheated on her and lied to her for a year, he's capable of lying and being underhanded you dolt.

So yea...Ivy is the main thing that dragged this down for me. I wanted Lukas to leave her and just find someone who is worthy of him.

I'm still going to read Loving Storm and Talon because there's enough here that I want to continue but I also want to love something from this series because I loved Torn so much, but I don't have high hopes right now.

Lukas was such a deep, sweet hero. I really enjoyed this story and really felt their connection. He really helped build Ivy's self esteem after her husband cheated on her. He was so romantic and mature for his age.

The 3rd act conflict with Macy really irritated me. I don't think any daughter would act like that to a mother who has sacrificed so much for her. That is the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I really enjoy Carian Cole and plan on going right into the next book.
