It was a slow burn which I liked however I didn't feel anything while I was reading the book except when I got frustrated by the male lead in the last quarter cause he kept delaying defining and talking about their relationship.

Okay I will admit I have been sitting on this one but it’s only because IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I received this book as an ARC to review and wow! The author’s outdid themselves in this one. My favorite tropes are second chance ones. It can be enemies to lovers or high school sweethearts. It can even be bad timing so let’s give it a chance now (Ben & Jennifer Affleck. Don’t hate me but I am a hopeless romantic.) Also, this story is a second chance for the over 40 crowd, which I love. This book was (sigh) just that.

Remy is the oldest of the Winslow Brothers. He was the first to head down the aisle and the first to have his heart shattered when he was left at the altar. Literally!! He and his heart have been closed off since. His father left them when he and his three brothers and one sister were young and Remy took on the fatherly role which made him older than his years. He’s amazing, thoughtful, respectful and the type of man we all want for the rest of our life. He is the kind you bring home to Mom.

Maria is the oldest between her and her sister Isabelle. She would do anything for her baby sister. It’s only ever been Maria, her Mom and her sister and because of that Maria has taken on the responsibility of caretaker while her Mom works. She met Remy picking up books at their high school because Remy’s little sister Winnie is the same age as Isabelle and they start talking to each other while waiting for their siblings. This is where it all begins for Remy and Maria but he is two years older and eventually they break up because he is going away to college.

Cleo, I love this Fortune Teller. I love how she has weaved her way into this family. I also love that Remy has never let her go out of his life. He can believe it was only for work, but this woman is brillant.

They reunite at the end of The Secret (The Redo chapter one). I am trying to make this spoiler free but Remy works hard throughout this book to keep Maria. They meet in a blackout in NYC when the elevator they share stops. Remy is taken back by running into Maria but even more shocking is that Maria is pregnant. Remy is persistent and works his way into Maria’s life but not in a way you would have expected. All I can tell you is this book was awesome because I don’t want to give away anything. However, it has a happily ever after.
