Incredibly thought provoking and well defined. A must read if you’re struggling with our world today. One of the simple truth is that I found staggering is in the history of mankind the more comfort we have, the more security we have, the more anxieties we have.
I LOVED the first half of this book and took so many notes to go along with it. Mark Manson does an amazing job of digging into his research, conclusions, and ideas on "hope" as it shapes human living. I loved the introspection that was wrapped into every part of this book and the insight it provided for me.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick read that will inspire you. Be aware of the language that is present in Manson's style of writing (as hinted by the title) but it does not take away from the story. Manson weaves humor with information and reflection, bringing the reader closer to the concepts inside.
The book lost me a little bit at the end. He started talking about religion as a concept, which was well done but hit a cord for me (I am Christian and firm in my faith). But that doesn't mean there weren't great things in the latter pages.

Very entertaining with a lot of cool insights and perspectives that helped me understanding topics and events I already knew about in different ways. Loved the neuroscience and the short biography’s of certain philosophers.

This book started off great but then it just turned into a lot of different subjects and it just felt like there was no main point? Really lost me at the end where he started preaching democracy must be preserved at all cost cus if not we’re doomed? As if our capitalist world hasn’t been the root cause of all modern world issues lately?
Book honestly felt like being on a shrooms trip with Manson where he’s constantly talking fun facts about different things in the world and history.
But he preaches the entire thing as “everything is f-cked” don’t hope and he ends it with hoping the world is better?? Like what?
Big rollercoaster on this one.
I love Manson after the Subtle Art but this one felt just like he did a bunch of research and slapped it on a book and tried to make it about not hoping/hoping
