All you need to know is that her mother is the best side carecter ever and that she invents curses from songs, babbles when she does things she did not intend to do, she is awkward and loves to talk nonsense.

"Celebrate your differences. It is remarkable to be unique in a world of the mundane. You are one in a million.” - Emery

Heard a lot of good things about this author but I'm just not vibing with this. The characters aren't interesting and the writing is meh.

There was a lot about it that I liked. But the major downside was Penny. Her character was inconsistent to me. When she was away from her mother, I really liked her a lot. But with her mother, it was like she's a 14 year old. And she's 24. It annoyed the piss out of me that a 24 year old would allow her mother to treat her like that. It also seriously undercut her character. She's brilliant on the fly in chaotic situations, but get her around her mother and she's a fumbling, moronic child.

Also, I like Emery but my patience for his emo shit will be very, very thin. We have yet to see any reason why this guy thinks he's a bad guy. But he just insists on it. I was rolling my eyes by the end.

The story was amazing. I loved how Penny found her strength and how intuition is such a strong power.
But I absolutely hated the nickname Emery gave Penny and I really hope, it goes away in future books

Okay, I thought for sure I was going to hate Penny, but really, this next arc is just delightful. I'm so pleased to have discovered K.F. Breene!

Fascinating fantasy with magic and corruption

This seemed almost like a coming of age story. There was an innocent light romance. The way the magical reality functions is pretty broken because of the mages, mostly. Enter two heroes who have both had losses because of the organization. This was quirky, action, packed, and even cute (in a good way!). I am getting the next book asap.
