3.85 AVERAGE

Hooray for happy endings. But there are some events that I wish didn't happened
Spoilerlike Cal's death
but none the less a good ending.

More like a 3.5 stars. I did like it. Just not as much as I enjoyed the first two books. It felt a bit more.. Choppy? If that even makes sense.

For something that looks like fluff, the Hex Hall series is extraordinarily captivating, humorous, and, most surprisingly of all, bittersweet. The characters always crack me up with their personalities, and Sophie has always reminded me of myself. I continuously found myself smiling at her dialogue, particularly in those dire situations where everyone else just wants to strangle her for speaking. The ending actually made me tear up a little, too, so props for that. This is an enjoyable series that I would recommend for people who aren't searching for anything totally serious, but definitely something to put a smile on your face.

4/5 stars.

REVIEW: http://www.theliteraturelion.blogspot.com/2012/06/series-selection-ft-city-of-lost-souls.html

This was part of the Series Selection post in which I do mini-reviews for books that are a part of a series.

Snarky protagoist? Check. Rebellious romance? Check. Crazy demons? Definitely check. Fricken awesome book? HECK YES. These books are so hilarious yet awesome, but the plot seems to be getting a bit boring. I think it's dragging on a little too long, and some things can be done to make it better.

well, fuck you very much

I'm sad that this series is over! It was so much fun, I absolutely LOVED Sophie and her sarcasm. It was a very good ending to an amazing series. I think I liked this one even more than Rebel Belle.

Once again we are thrown into a new setting with new characters and I really enjoyed this – it definitely kept things interesting. After the cliffhanger of the second book, I had to urge to continue and while I really enjoyed this conclusion, there definitely were a couple of things that irked me. The constant switching of places for one felt incredibly convenient. The way a certain character was handled really rubbed me the wrong way. If this was planned all along, this character should have never been in the story to begin with. I did really enjoy the humor and sassy remarks and the magic was more prominent in this book. It's still a very quick read, it's fun and fluffy with some darkness thrown in but I'm still left with quite a lot of questions as the book ended pretty openly.

I'm sorry but this installment of Hex fell flat.

i'm ambivalent about this series ending. this book ended on such a sweet note, but i loved so many of the characters in the story. a few things:

- i figured sophie would wind up with who she did
- i'm glad the author chose sophie's new path in life
- the underworld scene was not long enough or descriptive enough
- the pacing in this story was weird. 99% slowly paced, the last 1% rushed with so much plot
- i'm going to miss sophie's stupid jokes

I actually didn't expect to like this series as much as I did, or expect it to get better as the series went on. It is a simple, quick read with not a great deal of substance but it is a very good series.
