I had this book rated as a 5, but the more I thought about it, 4 stars made more sense to me. It wasn't a bad book, so don't let my switch deter you.
I love the characters Hawkins creates. Archer is by far my favorite. He has been throughout the trilogy. I'm not sure if it's the whole bad boy image, or the fact that he doesn't really know who he is. Sophie gets a big reality check. Nobody has been completely up front with her about anything. She doesn't know what or who to believe.
We finally get a few answers to the same things that have plagued Sophie's thoughts. We find out how her parents met, and who exactly Archer is. Elodie makes an appearance quite a few times. Most of those times I wanted to slap the mess out of her. I try to like, and appreciate, the help she gives Sophie, but then she'll do something completely bitchy.
Overall I did enjoy the story line. Those of you who have read this series, and this last book might understand why I gave it a 4. I was expecting a little more action. However, when you read this you must have some tissue nearby. You will definitely need them!

Okay there are some things I super hated about this book. Like the ending, an absolutely needless death that felt completely forced and super duper convenient, and the love triangle. Hated all of that. If those were the only things in the book, I'd give it zero stars.
But luckily there were also some things that were super weird that somehow worked all the same. I really love how Lord Byron—the real Lord Byron just as a vampire btw—managed to make a quick cameo in every book. I actually liked the whole thing about the Brannocks—though it was super obvious lol. I liked it all the same. Finally, I love Elodie because she's interesting, and she made a lot of appearances in this book. She mainly appeared in Rachel Hawkin's go-to trope of "main girl and girl she hated in book 1 are now forced to work together in a weird way." It happened in Rebel Belle, and it happened here, though it may be a little weirder in this one (see: ghosts). I love that trope.
Overall, this series is the epitome of silliness, but it was a good time all the same. It's fine.

This was a decent end to this trilogy. I wish the solution was a bit more complicated though. It was just one of those solutions that fell right into Sophie's lap and that isn't my favorite thing.
What a great series! I remember being skeptical at first when I picked up [b:Hex Hall|5287473|Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)|Rachel Hawkins|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1368393885s/5287473.jpg|5354884] at the library. But this book is just as funny and refreshing as the first two! It's been a while since a book has completely blown me away with wit and creativity, so thank goodness for Rachel Hawkins. Her writing style is great and the things that she comes up with are great.
Sophie is a fantastic main character. Her sarcasm and witty comments are hilarious and I actually laughed out loud in a few parts. Not many books can do that. I flew through this book because it was just that awesome. The plot is rich and it went on for the right amount of time--the pace never slowed enough where it was dull, but things weren't all thrown onto a few pages and then that was it. It kept me wanting to read it without being overwhelming.

No! Cal! I almost cried, honestly. He was always one of my favorite characters, even though he was barely in the first book. He's just so sweet and caring and loving, you can't not love this guy. And he was so good-natured about Sophie and Archer, which was really nice of him. And I'm pretty sure what he saw in the Underworld was him sacrificing himself for Sophie. He knew what would happen and he did it to save her anyway. I hope Elodie and Cal can be happy haunts together, because he definitely deserves that.
Lara was the perfect amount of evil. She was so terrible and Hawkins did a great job writing someone so evil. Their backstory probably could have been a little more explained, but I love that she had a purpose to being so evil, not just because she could be.
I'm still really curious about what Torin told Izzy during some unknown time. He knows something about her which is why she always blushes around him. I'll definitely be reading [b:School Spirits|15826934|School Spirits (School Spirits, #1)|Rachel Hawkins|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1354294039s/15826934.jpg|21559254] (which is the spin-off using Izzy as the main character) to hopefully figure out what's going on there.
I was a little surprised that Sophie was picked to be the Head of the Council, but also, good for her. She'll be hilarious at it, but she's strong-willed and will do a great job. I wish the series could continue so we know what happens with Archer and the Eye and keep Jenna around, because she's a great vampire sidekick to have.
Overall, what a great series and this was a great ending to the books. I was not disappointed, I only wish it could have lasted longer!

I liked the story and did have some things to laugh at, but I was expecting more action in the final battle with the Casnoffs. I still really enjoyed to read this trilogy and it'll forever be one of my favourites.

Fun, frothy with an edge of demonspawn, and a nice close to the trilogy. Some things were a little too glib, a little too coincidental, and the pacing was a little odd--I felt like we spent a lot of time with the first two acts and then crammed a whole buncha stuff in the third. (And thinking about it now, I wonder if maybe that's a pacing-of-the-trilogy issue, but anyway.) However Sophie throughout has been a delightful narrator to hang around with, snarky and canny and normal and strong. She carries us home.
