Does this book have a plot? No, seriously. I didn't know anything about this book going into it, so I didn't really know what the book was about. I spent the entire book waiting for the book to actually get going. It never really did.
This isn't a hate on David Williams either - I usually really like his books, but this one isn't it.
I also listened to the audiobook. The audiobook had lots of sound effects that would have been really amazing - except that they were too loud and I couldn't focus on the actual book. The book also has cast narration, which is always a plus! However, the audiobook all in all was a mess. David Williams narrated the overall book and was at a comfortable volume, but Myrtle was SO LOUD. I know that she was meant to be shouting, but I physically had to turn the volume down every time she spoke because it physically hurt my ears. Mr and Mrs Meek, on the other hand, were so quiet, which again was the point, but it didn't make it any more bearable. When everyone was in the same scene, it was so irritating because it was either so loud or so quiet. It was just pretty irritating and spoiled my overall reading experience.
