WOW! I was not expecting to cry so much!!! The ending was so perfectly done. I will forever love will and Jem so much.

I love that we got given some deeper storylines for some characters
such as Sophie's ascension and Cecily settling into life as a Shadowhunter. I loved the little chat with Jessamine! And the explanation for the star mark passed down the Herondale bloodline!!

I really wasn't expecting the Mortmain storyline to end like that!! Was totally unpredictable and
I love that it was Tessa's power that was his undoing.

I really grew to love Charlotte and Henry. I loved that
they get given higher positions at the end of the book and that Charlotte finally got the recognition that she deserved as well as Magnus helping Henry invent the portal that saves everyone

Although the ending literally ripped me to shreds!!
I am glad to see Jem and Tessa back together. I really felt like I grieved Will's death with Tessa at the end :( It must be incredibly difficult being immortal.

The best of the trilogy, which is wonderous considering how many other series seem so unable to achieve a decent ending, and that the first two books were so fabulous. I cried, I laughed, I dreamed. I would read it again in a heartbeat. Cassandra Clare, you are my hero.

Plot or Character Driven: Character

I feel conflicted about this book. On one hand I liked the journey this series took us on and the characters we met along the way. On the other I feel like the pacing was very disjointed. As a reader, I like a good mix of plot and character based stories and this series became very character based.

With that being said I think that the depth and connection she was able to bring out of these characters was incredible. Jem and Will’s relationship was by far the best thing about this book. It took family to another level and their bond was so sweet. There were times at the end where I was close to tears the scenes were so well written.

My biggest complaint about this book is the pacing. The first one mixed the action so well with the character development but these last two books have been strictly focused on the characters and especially the romantic relationships. While I excused it in the second book I really thought we’d get back into a little more of the plot in this one. While Mortmain is always lingering in the background it felt like the conflicts only arose when convenient for the romance or to add drama. I also feel like there were too many character point of views and switches. As much as I love the side characters I didn’t feel like we needed them to this extent.

There was just too many people and things go on in this book that detracted from the main storyline. Including the letters, which I felt were such an odd addition to this. I know it was to show the Consuls alliance but it felt very out of place for the story. I would have rather he just became a villain and side with Mortmain than whatever his motives actually were. Because of that I felt the big fight with Mortmain didn’t feel as climatic as it should have been. It wrapped up so quickly and we didn’t really get any insight to what went on at the council meeting anyways.

While this book is incredibly well written I feel like at times it was too mature for a YA book. Throughout this series I had to keep reminding myself these characters are only 17. Their big declarations of love sometimes felt over the top for them. I’m also unsure of how I feel about the resolution of the love triangle.

This being my first Shadowhunters book I will say I enjoyed the concept and the world a lot. I would be interested in reading other series and seeing how they all compare. I think the epilogue intentionally ended at 2008 to connect with the other books but I could be wrong. Either way, I did enjoy following Will, Jem and Tessa’s story. I feel like this book missed the action and adventure that the last two books had but I still loved seeing the growth between them all.

Never did I think a Cassie Clare book could affect me this hard, but wow, that was beautiful. I have my issues with the Mortal Instruments series, and I thought those issues would carry into the Infernal Devices, as well. But no, I loved this. So much. And I cried several times in those last 100 pages. I just...ahh. So good.

I love the Infernal Devices series...even more than the Mortal Instruments. Something about the steam-punkiness that I just prefer. I like the characters more and I believe them. One small spoiler...I don't love the epilogue. I guess I see why it was necessary from the author's POV. But I could have lived with just imagining on my own how Tessa deals with immortality. Verging on too neat and tidy, Ms. Clare, something I really don't like about, for instance, Cast's Marked series at this point. I quit those and I am looking forward to the final installment of the Mortal Instruments less if that is what's going to be happening there.

However, having said that, with the exception of the epilogue, I LOVED this book! I love the "other" character storylines as much as the mains and I look forward to something new from Clare.

This book is beautiful and emotional and I cried several  times reading it. The writing is lovely and there are many amazing quotes and language. The way that brotherhood is written between Will and Jem, as well as Tessa’s love for both of them is just incredibly well done. This book kind of left me speechless. It’s that good. Very worth the read.

You will be tempted to look things up (I know I certainly was) to get a clearer sense of the timeline but I would refrain until you’ve read all the Shadowhunter books you wish to, for fear of being spoiled.

I really appreciated the longer peaceful resolution in this book. I feel like often, once the action concludes, the book does shortly thereafter but we got a good 15% of the book that provided resolution for these amazing characters as well as teasers for other opportunities.

I admit that I am a hardcore fan of Cassandra Clare. I know that there is a stigma about her and how she is a bully and plagiarizes but, honestly, I don't like authors based off of their personal lives or their politics... I base it off of how much I enjoy their stories and Cassandra Clare fully entertains me. I first fell in love with The Mortal Instruments and I thought nothing could top the characters and world she had created in that series... And then The Infernal Devices happened.

I'm convinced that 99% of the reason why I enjoy TID more than TMI is because it takes place at the turn of the 20th century and, if I could choose a time period to live in/visit... that would be it.

I found the first two books in the series so quick and painless to get through but, for some reason, Clockwork Princess took months for me to trudge through. It might have been the array of characters such as Cecily and the Lightwood brothers and the incorrigible Consul Wayland. It might have been the turbulent plot of happiness, utter despair, death, love making, fake outs, and a cop out ending to have all the shippers be happy.

There was, however, one excellent twist that I did not see coming. So, for that--Bravo Cassandra Clare.

This book was my least favorite in the series but an enjoyable read nonetheless (even if it did take forever). Hopefully it will end at this book and remain a trilogy (just like TMI should have been)...
