So while this book may not be for everyone, I loved it. The prose is beautiful and reading it feels like magic.

The first 2/3 are really enjoyable and lighthearted fun though… slow at points and withhold certain physical elements that make no sense to withhold (two characters kissing.) The last 1/3 is more… of the mystical element and tbh feels somewhat rushed/ forced seeing as it’s just at the end. That part was a little more difficult to read and also felt a bit like they were stringing the reader along with the hopes of the characters kissing at the end which felt quite juvenile.

DID NOT FINISH

Very cool premise, very boring execution. I wanted to like this, it came with good recommendations, but no plot. Things were just sort of happening here and there and I could tell it was supposed to be a grand adventure. But it just wasn't... Grand world, cool stuff in said world, but not much else.

The book is well written and the universe is as magical as promised, but there was something about this book that didn’t quite capture me as raptly as I would expect. I kept getting distracted reading this one, like I couldn’t get engrossed, and by the end I was just ready for it to be over.

This was a unique and poetically written book which overall I enjoyed, but there was so much metaphor and so many threads that I think I lost a few and the ending didn’t seem to help. I lost track of the purpose of it all somewhere but perhaps I read it too slowly.

“I think I was supposed to be exploring all along.”

Love a descriptive writer, but this didn’t quite stick the landing for me. Gets a little bit too overly fantastical near the end, in a way that leaves things feeling almost weightless. The vibes are immaculate tho, and each individual interlude/short story works well enough on its own that I’m not complaining too much.
