Erebos nie jest rodzajem książki, po który bym normalnie sięgnęła. Niby lubię kryminały i nie pogardzę dobrym thrillerem, ale o grze komputerowej? Niekoniecznie. Gdy szukałam kolejnej książki do słuchania, chciałam wybrać coś w miarę lekkiego i wciągającego, bo jednak tego typu powieści najlepiej się sprawdzają w roli audiobooka. Nazwisko Ursuli Poznanski było mi znane z niemieckiej blogosfery i jakoś przypadkiem zawiesiłam oko na tych książkach, oceny na goodreads zdecydowały, że spróbuję. Przepadłam od pierwszych minut!
Akcja obu książek rozgrywa się w Londynie w środowisku nastolatków. Nick ma szesnaście lat i zauważa, że coraz więcej kolegów i koleżanek pożycza sobie tajemniczą płytę. Niestety nikt nie chce mu zdradzić, o co chodzi. Gdy wreszcie jedna z koleżanek wręcza ma CD chłopak jest podekscytowany. Okazuje się, że na płycie jest niesamowita gra - Erebos. Gra, jakiej nigdy nie widział. Gra, która kompletnie wciąga w swój świat i co więcej ma wpływ na realne życie graczy. Czegoś takiego Nick się nie spodziewał. Tak jak znajomi ze szkoły kompletnie poddaje się jej wpływowi. Godziny, które spędza przed komputerem są tak fascynujące, że zaczyna wymyślać wymówki. Brzmi nudno?

One of the first books I read in german and God knows that I loved it. The medieval theme, the kind of fantasy theme, Erebos itself, I loved it all.
Characters are great. And that's a first for me to say, because most of the time, for YA book, characters are so cliché. But in these, the pace is mildly fast so you don't get bored. The originality of the story makes up for minor plotholes.

Mostly not good, sometimes just plain bad. I like the about last 100 pages though, but the very ending sucked.

Reread, um gleich anschließend den zweiten Teil lesen zu können
Zwar nicht so gut, wie beim ersten Mal lesen (vor allem, weil ich da noch deutlich jünger war), aber trotzdem konnte ich es innerhalb weniger Tage nahezu am Stück lesen. Die Bewertung bleibt bei 5 Sternen, weil es damals eins meiner absoluten Lieblingsbücher war, und ich es sogar einem Freund in Neuseeland geschenkt habe, weil ich fand, dass jeder es lesen sollte.
Ich bin gespannt auf den zweiten Teil.

I am a bit too old to be part of the video game generation but I have played quite a few computer games in my time. And I have heard all about how video or computer games are evil. EREBOS is the first one that I have ran across that would actually qualify for that title.
Ms. Poznanski has created a wonderful hero in Nick who is easy to like, and even worry about when he is caught in the grip of the game as it becomes like crack and he will do almost anything to be able to play. The rest of the characters are also very well designed and keep the story moving right along.
I can easily see why EREBOS became such a best seller in Germany. Just thinking about the game is enough to send chills down my spine because I can see something like this game happening for real. I almost want to hide to book away to keep evil masterminds from getting the idea. Of course since they are evil masterminds they probably already have this in mind.
EREBOS is an incredible young adult book that will appeal to readers of all ages. There is some violence but it not of the in your face variety. My only warning is that this book will not allow you to set it aside. I rate this book a 4.8 and highly recommend picking it up. You will never look at a computer game the same way again.
