Dahlia is a young girl struggling with her emotions for a lot, if not all, of this story. She thinks she has it all - a future, a boyfriend and nothing can change the path her life is on. But boy is she wrong!

Before everything goes to pot she meets River Wilde. This meeting is very brief but leaves a lasting impression on Dahlia.

After suffering a tragedy she loses her way, loses herself, and struggles to get her life back on track. Eventually she reconnects with River and the story changes into something more.

The author has written a good story, it definitely kept my attention throughout. The way she describes the heartache Dahlia experiences is extremely well done. Also the relationship between Dahlia and River, although very intense at times, is well written.

They are all set for a happily ever after and the author throws an epilogue at us which totally blows everything out of the water! Everything I believed to be truth in the story is proved not to be true, and it totally changes everything.

If I'm honest I liked and enjoyed this story but I just didn't love it. However, with the ending, the author managed to bring in an aspect which brought my rating up slightly.

Knowing I have the second book sitting on my Kindle to be read makes me extremely happy! Straight onto book number 2!

this one was an ok story....if it had been a little more suspenseful throughout...it might have been better.

Some Facebook posts turned me onto this book when it released earlier this week and I'm glad I saw them.

This was one of those stories that had me wondering what could possible happen to turn things around for poor Dahlia London. She loses so much so very early on in the story that I was seriously wondering just how her broken soul was ever going to mend. But Fate steps in at just the right time to put her in the path of the one man that ever made her question just what her fiance Ben meant to her.

River Wilde had an instant connection with Dahlia. When they met again, he instantly soothes her broken soul and she finds herself enjoying life again and completely losing herself to River, despite what she felt for Ben. She questions every feeling and every touch, because with River everything feels "big".

I enjoyed following River and Dahlia as they try to weed through her emotional mine field. River is determined to keep Dahlia in his life this time and goes to great lengths to make sure she knows that. The combination of sweetness, understanding and sexiness go a long way to finally convince Dahlia being with him is exactly what she needs.

There is a bit of a mystery surrounding Ben. Because of certain events, Ben still plays a vital role in River and Dahlia's romance. It's a role, as we get to the cliffhanger ending, that I'm sure will have tremendous effect on what the future holds for River and Dahlia.

According to Kim Karr's web site, TORN, the last book in this two book series, will be out in the Fall of 2013. This was a strong enough story that I will definitely be anxiously awaiting the next book.

So there are many things about Connected I liked. Including that gorgeous cover!

First off, the music references. I am a HUGE music junkie and my taste is very eclectic. I can go from Prince to Mastodon. So I appreciate the playlist that varied in genre. Also, I love when art pays homage to other art.

Second, the cliffhanger is a doozy. I personally like cliffhangers. Maybe I am in the minority but that is one sure fire way to help keep my interest for the following book. I had a feeling about what the cliffhanger was earlier on, but it wasn't obvious and it still managed to surprise me.

And third, I enjoyed the writing. Not to point fingers at other books, but so many self-published books coming out are riddled with grammatical errors, choppy narrative and re-hashed plots. I found the writing to be fluid, engaging and I certainly haven't read a story like this before. I was pleased with the originality of not only the plot but the characters.

Now, for the things I didn't like so much.

Maybe I am just a complete cynic, but I don't believe in love at first sight. I believe in lust at first sight. I also believe you can connect with someone from the get-go. But the first meeting between River and Dahlia just felt too forced. I really wanted to feel their connection from the beginning but I just didn't. Maybe if there would have been a little bit more banter than googly-eyes I might have been swayed more. But for me, the moment they meet just felt a little flat.

But I am not that much of a cynic. I do believe in soul mates...to an extent.

Another thing I didn't like was the lack of drama. At first I was hooked. Dahlia meets River, but she has a boyfriend at home. That's angsty. I also was really involved during the *big* tragedy in the beginning. I felt horrible and sad and my heart ached for Dahlia. But after an acceptable amount of time, Dahlia and River meet again and it just felt like too much too soon. I wanted to feel butterflies and excitement but I didn't. It just felt that for such a profound step in Dahlia's recovery would be met with more resistance or apprehension and it just went too easy.

Also I didn't fall in love with River. I liked him. He was incredibly sweet and sexy and supportive. But it was almost as he was too perfect. I like bossy, imperfect, bad boys. And maybe I was just being too stereotypical in wanting River to be the bad boy musician.

Overall, I just felt like between the easy going nature of the characters and plot that there was nothing to fight or root for, till the very end. Maybe I am just a drama llama and want crazy going on all the time. I'm not really sure why Connected fell flat for me. The saving grace was the last 15% of the book. By then, I became invested.

I think anyone that enjoys romance, and second chances will love this book. Yes, it has it's flaws for me, but overall there were some very sweet, and very sexy parts going on. Also, I try to not let other reviews influence my experience, but I think I put Connected on a pedal stool with my high expectations.

Despite my own hang ups I will read book 2, Torn, because I am really curious to see how it will all play out. I just hope that River isn't Mr.Perfect and there is more build up and conflict to follow.

First off, I knew I would LOVE this book because she mentions music from the get go. I love books that tell you what the characters are listening to or incorporates lyrics, even if they aren't books with rock stars in them. If there is a rock star, that's a bonus.

This book has a rock star, BIG BONUS. River Wilde, lead singer/guitarist of the Wilde Ones! YUMMY!

I also love when a heroine has her inner struggle and ultimately ends up going with her gut. Dahlia London does just that.

The sex scenes were OFF THE CHARTS sexy. River is sexy, smooth and SO in love with Dahlia it melts your heart.

The end of the book was my favorite. It is a bit of a cliff hanger, but not your typical cliff hanger. This is one that leaves you with so many questions running through your head. I can't wait for the next book, so I can get my questions answered.

The story moved a tad too slow to give 5 stars. I also didn't enjoy her devotion to Ben 2 years after he was out of the picture. It was way over the top for somebody not ever being married or sharing a lifetime together. Just my opinion.

We meet Dahlia, a girl with a tragic past, a super supportive BFF, Aerie and a somewhat douchey but okay enough boyfriend, Ben. Dahlia and Ben have been together, forever and plan to be together even longer.

When Dahlia and her Aerie hit up a bar, Dahlia's eyes lock with River Wilde. It takes one look and she is indescribably drawn to him, and him to her. After sharing a moment, River must leave her to go play on stage with his band, but asks Dahlia to meet him afterwards. When he walks away, she quickly scoops up Aerie and high tails it out of there before she crosses a line she can't come back from.

Knowing these things, I wondered why I hadn’t walked away in the first place. For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn’t. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else? I didn’t want to analyze the events of tonight because I was confused as hell, and the answers would not be what I wanted to hear.

5 years later Dahlia and Ben are engaged, getting ready for a night out when Ben is a a victim of a car jacking and murdered. Dahlia is crushed and broken. She spends a long time wallowing in that depression before Aerie sets her up to interview River Wilde. Nervous but excited, Dahlia agrees and with a boyfriend no longer, the sparks fly between the two of them. But River has some secrets that threaten to rip them apart, regardless of how deep their love is.

“I feel like fate has brought us together again. I also believe that one night, so long ago, just wasn’t the right time for us. But tonight is.”

It was a great great story with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. I've never wanted to punch my nook as much as I wanted to when I got to the end. My only issue with the book was that is was a little too long due to a lot of description, which caused me to tune out a bit.
