Ok so I know I read this as an actual book many years ago but I honestly have zero memory of it so clearly it didn't leave much of an impression.
I feel that Eoin Colfer is pretty brave attempting this work given the Guide's cult status. He kinda, almost, sorta gets it right...but not quite. I just felt there was just something missing. Might just be me? But at the same time I like that he gave our much abused by the universe protagonist a bit of peace at the end and I am a sucker for a happy ending.
I always enjoy a BBC full-cast production, and in spite of the utter chaos of the Heart of Gold's infinite improbability drive it is relatively easy to follow the plot.

It was never going to be as good as the original but it was still fun

So so great! Lives up to expectations for the old novels, wonderful audio recording with perfect comedic timing and sound effects. Great short read for a drive, I want more <3

The original book by Colfer was mediocre at the very best, but re-writing it into a radio broadcast and bringing back (most of) the original voice talent gives it an extra star at least.

It was nice to take another spin with the cast of Hitchhiker's Guide but ultimately Colfer's attempt just reads a bit like fan-fic. Try hard fan-fic.

I cannot compare this to the book since I am a bad person who has not read the sixth book of the trilogy yet, but I have to say that the audio play was quite fun to listen to. It sounds like the cast had a great time getting together to record this. Also, Stephen Hawking?!??! How fantastic! Story was a bit eh in my opinion, but I have to give it to the cast for punching it up for this last round. I enjoyed it!

Very impressive 4 hours of listening to episode after episode. The writing is so much like the original. Hilarious. Loved it!
