Admittedly, this book is everything I should have loved. I'm not sure if it was the parental death and having lost my own parent, but grief just hit me unexpectedly (because let's be honest, grief has no timeline or cycle) and I couldn't make it through this right now.

I do think I will pick this up again in the future, especially since I have purchased my own copy, but it's just not for me in this moment.

This book was soooooo good!!
It was emotional, but not too raw/depressing. It was filled with hope and moments of joy.
I've read a lot of romance books lately that involve overcoming grief, and this is one of the lighter ones.
I would absolutely recommend this HEA!!

Thank you Ann Einerson & The Smuthood PR for sending me a digital ARC of this book to read! I really enjoyed this book. I liked the banter between Briar and Jensen. I liked the little boy Caleb. I liked the setting. I liked the friend group and the family in this. I liked all of the characters. I liked the tropes in this and I liked the farm animals. I was laughing when I was reading this book because it was so funny at times. This was a fun book to read.

Reconnecting with the small town you escaped and finding love in the process.

When tech CEO Jensen Harding finds out that he has a five-year-old son - Caleb - and that he's been named as legal guardian in Caleb's mother's will, his whole world is turned upside down, but nothing will stop him from being there for his son. With no family of his own, and Caleb having not spoken since his mother's death, Jensen's thrown into the deep end. Until he's invited to spend the summer in his hometown of Bluebell in Montana, with the family who was more his family than his own parents. At such late notice, he and Caleb will be staying with Briar, his best friends younger adopted sister. Briar is instantly smitten with Caleb, making him feel safe and at home during his grief and life upheaval. And between Caleb's summer camp and Jensen working remotely, Briar lands herself the job of Caleb's nanny. It's the most perfect summer as Caleb slowly comes out of his shell and the Halstead family rally around him and Jensen. Meanwhile Briar and Jensen easily fall into a parenting dynamic, with sparks bubbling under the surface the more time they spend together. Jensen's plan was always to return to New York when the summer ends, but the more he reconnects with his Bluebell roots, the more he realises how much his priorities have changed.

Give me a one-way ticket to Bluebell, Montana, and Silver Saddle Ranch! Ann has such brilliant writing style and I was immediately whisked away to the world of Bluebell and the lives of Jensen, Briar and the rest of this cast of characters! If you're a sucker for a small town and ranch-life interconnected series - maybe you're in an Elsie Silver or Lyla Sage reading slump - then Ann is the author for you!

Jensen and Briar have such a beautiful connection, and their friends-to-lovers story was crafted so well. The development of their relationship was so real and genuine, and their chemistry was off-the-charts as they navigated living together, reconnecting for the first time in years, and giving Caleb and safe space to grieve. They were instantly the sweetest little family, even before they knew they were a family.

The single dad trope is forever one of my faves, and Ann really made the trope her own with Caleb - it's not just Briar and Caleb forming a connection (that is just so damn sweet), but also Jensen and Caleb forming their father/son connection in the wake of Jensen finding out that he has a son to begin with. With Caleb choosing not to speak after the death of his mother, Ann has a beautiful and moving portrayal of giving a child the time and love to process their grief, and it really made his connections with Jensen and Briar that much stronger and more meaningful because of how they were able to bond during his silence. Throw in fainting goat Ziggy, and there was just so much to love about the story and bond between these three characters.

There's a lot a fabulous secondary characters, from Briar's outrageous friend group to the Halstead family, and they really made the world of Silver Saddle Ranch so fun to read about. I just know that whatever Ann has cooked up for the rest of the characters and couples are going to be super enjoyable reads - I'm already counting down the days until the next releases!

Small town girlies, get ready to fall in love with Silver Saddle Ranch and book your ticket to Bluebell, Montana for a romp with some swoony cowboys with a side of animal-stealing shenanigans!

“Try not to swoon too hard over Mr. Tall, Dark, and Daddy.”

Just how I like ‘em. 🥰

Jensen and Briar’s story was the perfect start to Ann’s new series, and I am already in love. Jensen suddenly finds out he has a young son, and he returns home to Bluebell, Montana for a bit of help for him and healing for his sweet boy, Caleb. Jensen never expected to find his own little bit of healing as well in the form of sweet and sassy Briar.

Briar was but a preteen, and his best friend’s little sister, when he last stepped foot in Bluebell, and now they’re co-existing under one roof. Jensen does such a good job of stepping into the dad role and doing everything he can to make Caleb feel safe and loved. And with Briar’s gentle nature, there was no wonder that Caleb took to her right away. Of course, all of her furred and feathered friends surely helped ease the way. Caleb also happens to have excellent taste in dinosaurs bc ankylosaurs are my fave too. 🥰

There’s really nothing to say except that this story has everything you could want out of a small town, cowboy, single dad/nanny story. Jensen and Briar are too cute together. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they certainly know how to heat things up! Definitely got me checking the calendar to see when the next parish fair is. 😏

I love Ann’s writing, and I can already tell that this is going to become a comfort series for me. The found family hits hard. I love the friends and family we’ve had the chance of meeting, and I can’t wait to see what’s up next for Silver Saddle Ranch.

Thank you so much to Ann for the advance copy!

What a man, the way he stepped up when he learned that he had a son. Briar learned to open up. And no third act break-up.
