I was so excited to receive this ARC and this is my honest/genuine review.

So we are back at animus academy, which feels a bit like a hogwarts setting, but much sexier. I love Savage, he’s so genuine, but so unhinged. Loved knowing Lyles back story, and it was heartbreaking.

The book slowed down in the middle, but the pacing picked up after that.

It definitely gives Bonds that Tie series vibes, but I also loved that series, so give this one a go of you enjoyed that one.

I had the opportunity to read an advance review copy of this book, and I want to share my thoughts voluntarily.

One aspect of the book that intrigued me was the unique shifter system. I was excited about this element, but unfortunately, the overall experience fell short for me. I wish there had been a note indicating that reading the prequel was necessary to fully understand the story. Without that background, I felt like there were numerous gaps in the plot, leaving me confused and with unanswered questions that seem to lead into the second book.

On a positive note, I appreciated the inclusion of shifters that aren't commonly portrayed in other books, as well as the mystery surrounding Lia and her powers and mate bonds. However, I found myself not connecting with any of the mates. It wasn't a matter of disliking them due to their treatment of Lia, but rather, they lacked depth beyond seemingly random acts of violence. Whenever we had a point of view from the male characters, they were either in the midst of killing someone or planning to do so. While they were portrayed as tough and formidable, that seemed to be their only defining characteristic. Additionally, I found it unsettling that education seemed to be a privilege reserved for the wealthy in this world, and even the prison school had to teach basic life skills like hygiene.

As for whether I will continue with the series, I'm uncertain. I didn't feel a strong connection to the characters, and the overall story fell flat for me. However, I acknowledge that personal preferences vary, and there is a chance that the subsequent books may offer a more engaging experience.

I received this book for free from BookSirens as a ARC

I absolutely adore E.P Bali, and her writing. I am always left with wanting more at the end of each book, Her Feral Beasts was no different. As soon as I finished the book I let out a scream, because I read the 400+ pages in one day and now I have to wait for the next.

Bali did a great job of not overwhelming the reader by putting the world building throughout the book when it is relevant, so you aren’t bombarded with a lot of information at the start.

Her characters were well rounded, POC and LGBTQ representation, despite being a fantasy book. This made me love the book more, and love E.Ps writing. She does this in all her books and that makes me want to support her even more.

DID NOT FINISH

Just not for me. I didn’t make it far, so won’t rate. But the way it’s written tells me I won’t love it.

I don’t know why I just knew this book would be good, but I was right.
It had me in a chokehold and I couldn’t do anything until I finished it.

I went in to this series blind and started with the prequel novella. I would not recommend skipping it.

I don’t want to say to much about the story, so I don’t spoil it. What I can say is that this is: why choose, dark shifter romance with rejected mates.

I loved it and devoured this in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next book!
