4.12 AVERAGE

While there are many who find this book to be the most boring in the series, it unfortunately is the one with the most legwork to setting up the final book, which was written first. I, however, love this book as much as the rest of the series for a few reasons.
Like the others before me have pointed out, this is not (as the book summary would suggest) from Cimorene’s POV, but Morwen the witch. And because of this, we also get to understand her cats! This gives us more world building on just how cats have a magic all their own. Something else that others seem to have trouble with with the inclusion of Killer the rabbit, who many call annoying, but I found to be keeping it together given the circumstances, and my only criticism with him is that he disappears at the end in such a way as to say he was only important when suffering unwanted enchantments. I’d have liked to know if he got home all right in the end.
Knowing this story was basically forced into existence to setup the final book doesn’t dissuade me from still enjoying it, or all the payoffs it creates once you get into Talking With Dragons.

The "rabbit" was so annoying.... but I loved seeing new perspectives in a brand new adventure from characters in this world.
The ending is a bit sad and a tad cliffhanger-y, but the author made that very clear from the start, and luckily, I have the benefit of reading this long after publication, and can jump right into the last book.

I adore these books. I used to get them out every summer from the library, and now thanks to Half.com and BookMooch, I own a set of the same edition! (Trina Schart Hyman is my favorite illustrator.)

I love this one so much. The cats really make it, and I love that since it is Morwen's pov, we get to hear them. Killer also adds so much humor. I really like how one has more at stake and sets up for the final book. Even though book four was written first, the author did an amazing job with the prequels.
