The Enchanted Forest Chronicles was one of my favourite series when I was a kid, and reading them now they still hold up pretty well over time. This third installment isn't as good as the first two, with some pacing issues and an abrupt ending due to the set-up for the fourth and final book, but it's still pretty great. The wizards have stolen the King's sword in their effort to take over the enchanted forest, and so Cimorene and co. (including Morwen, Kazul, Telemain, a giant floating blue rabbitdonkey named Killer, and of course Morwen's cats) set off to find it. It is nice to get more of Morwen's perspective since she was always one of my favourite characters and of course Cimorene is amazing as always, one of the best heroines in any young adult book.

I think my least favourite of the series. Killer just really annoyed me for pretty much the whole book, and some of the magic stuff was confusing but that might just be because I was tired while reading. The ending was definitely not what I was expecting though, so I’m curious to see how things end
Whoever decided that Telemain, Killer, and Fiddlesticks needed to have such irritating voices needs a boot to the head. Honestly.
Calling on Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #3) by Patricia C. Wrede – I love this series so much I attempt to foist it off on unassuming strangers. While book 2 is my favorite, the flying blue donkey in this one is great for comic relief! Who says pregnant queens can’t save the day? Not Patricia Wrede that’s for sure! Happy Reading!
This one felt like a middle book. It was a charming installment, but it was definitely the setup for a concluding volume. The cats were delightful, but some of the gags like Killer's enchantments and Telemain's academic mumbo-jumbo felt a little overused.

Morwen as the main character?! Yes, I love it! And her cats are so sassy and full of personality. I enjoyed reading more about Morwen and Telemain's relationship; they have an interesting dynamic. And yes to the addition of Firewitches! A nice change from the silly princesses and princes/knights. It seems to me that Kazul's personality changed to become somewhat meaner and not as comical/laid back as she was in the first book. But it might just be due to the voice actor of the audiobook voicing her in that way. I wish we got to see more of Cimorene and Mendenbar. I would have loved to see more on their married life that was so unfortunately short-lived. I have less anticipation about the next book but, hopefully I'm proved wrong.
