We love this book. Four sweet chapters centered on four seasons. You can read one and if baby is still not sleepy keep reading more. The illustrations are gorgeous and the characters represented are lovely.

I loved this. The art is just my style, the characters are wonderfully drawn and thought out, and the stories themselves are just perfect. It's a cute addition to a child's library (or for my own!)

Little Witch Hazel reminded me a little of David the Gnome, and very strongly of Tiffany Aching, Granny Weatherwax and their witchy community from Discworld. There's very little flashy magic here, and much more common sense community building fun, service, and hard work. Four stories describe Witch Hazel's commitment to her neighbors, and like all good caretakers she even takes a chapter to just enjoy the world around her, thus fortifying her for a good, solid mystery investigation in the next chapter.
Calm competence. That's what pervades this entire book, from Witch Hazel's strong legs and purposeful stride, to her begrudging acceptance at being unable to complete her errands, to her recognition of the nature of wild creatures (but no tolerance for nibbling on the neighbors). I want to be Witch Hazel someday.
Or maybe I just want to meet Phoebe Wahl. All of her books that I've read so far have this same kind of realistic forbearance in the face of various challenges.

An utterly delightful story about Little Witch Hazel and her woodland friends throughout a calendar year. The illustrations were absolutely stunning! I need to add this book to my shelves.
