Ok but screw Anoor.
This was a good ending to a beloved series. Although the last quarter of the book felt a bit rushed, I think over the three books Saara kept a nice pacing with intrigue well dispersed.
I am only rooting for Hassa and Kara. Everyone else kinda suits morally.
Best aspect of this series was the intricate world building with politics, religion, colonization, caste systems, and conversations on race.

With this third book, the trilogy has really bounced back, since in the previous one there were parts that just didn't work for me as much. So I'm very happy with the conclusion of this powerful story.
The worldbuilding and the "magic" system with runes and blood still really fascinate me. The characters are wonderfully written—I didn't expect Jond to end up being one of my favorite characters when I hated him in the first book😆. And I loved the romance subplots.
Having said all that, I think it's a very good book and I loved it, but I feel like I'd give it 4.99⭐ rather than 5, it's missing something (nothing specific).
Overall it's a good trilogy and I would definitely recommend it: ⭐4'75
The Final Strife ⭐5
The Battle Drum ⭐4
The Ending Fire ⭐5

I am a little torn about how I feel regarding this last book. It felt "tropey" at times, unrealistic in some developments and overall very rushed (which could have been great because it is tense and things evolve quickly plotwise).
After having set the book down and putting some distance the thing I'm most dubious about is Jond's storyline (which sucks because I liked seeing his pov in the second book and would have enjoyed a deeper character development. in this book it felt very 2d). It should have been about redemption for him instead he was getting WAY too distracted about lust interest (I wouldn't call it love). Which is a shame because what I enjoyed in the series at first was precisely that it was more plot driven than romance. By the end both plot and romance are heavily intertwined but the main characters' (Sylah and Anoor) flaws and love, as immature as it seemed at times, were actually convincing.

Mixed feelings about many parts of this book, but overall thrilled I pushed through to the final battle, which used to the series' switches in perspective to tell that part of the story in really well-chosen snapshots.
Struggled significantly in the middle third of the book though. You could feel the rush to get to get everything and everyone into place for the climax, and moments that should have carried a lot of weight are either glossed over altogether or feel like we're just running through a checklist. A lot of the twists in this book are blatantly telegraphed, which adds to the checklist feeling.
Again, thrilled I read it, and it feels like the publishers may have done this book a dirty by not allowing time for more edits. We crammed a book and a half's worth of plot in here and only a solid climax redeems that
