This was an extraordinary book. Groff's writing is so vivid and lyrical that I had no trouble picturing what she described, even when her descriptions concerned Marie's fantastical visions.

I really hate the title, though. I think it does nothing to convey even a modicum of what the book is about.

Marie would have absolutely crushed Civilization. Or Sims. Rollercoaster Tycoon. Any of those types of games.

This is such a lush novel. The writing is beautiful, and whilst I didn't always (often) know where it was going, I was very happy to settle into the journey.
