A lot of very interesting topics and self history provided here. In the end, this wasn't the book I was necessarily looking for even as it engaged me in some discussions I'm glad I've encountered.
A thought provoking examination of how spirituality and science coexist. I plan to read this time and time again to ensure that at all stages of my life I absorb something new from these thoughts.

I enjoy the HH The Dalai Lama's books, and this was no exception. Here he reflects upon his many discussions and readings of contemporary science to reveal its limitations, its ideological frameworks, which might be strengthened by religion, especially Buddhism. Fundamentally, the Dalai Lama argues that the effects of the physical world are measured both by the empirical causes which propel them and the intentional causes of humans which motivate them. Thus, to consider only one approach to cause-effect is to be self-blinding. He goes on to demonstrate how various fields of science all but point out this error and yet fail to acknowledge it in practice. As always, a mesmerizing (though at times drier than his other works) reflection upon the world and our daily practices in it.
His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, is so wise and progressive thinking in regards to science. I devoured this book, and some of my faith in humanity has been restored. I'm pretty sure this book has sparked an even more profound journey for me. I've never related to something the way I relate to this text. The way his Holiness gives different levels of teachings in using the languages that are used just presents beautiful concepts of progressive Buddhism. Powerful and real and genuine compassion.

A thoughtful journey through modern concerns of human compassion, limitations to science, and a call for intellectual reflection and action as a societal collective. What shall be our future? How can we make it live able for all creatures? What will we lose, if we don't do this with compassion for all?
Excellent and thought provoking.
