ACAB sorry i just couldn’t enjoy this at all

This mix of mystery and romance is beautifully told, in a close third-person present tense that gives the immediacy of being there as it happens, with the evocativeness of knowing the central character's thoughts and observations. And he is an astute and sophisticated observer, whose viewpoint is well worth the ride. I thought perhaps it strayed a little too far into Danielle Steele territory, but that's probably due to my own, er, preferences. Excellent storytelling!

I enjoyed this read! A little slow at some points but I really liked Rav (the main character).

I didn’t know what to expect with this one but it really is a mystery with a love story inside it. I thought I knew what the end reality was for the case like 10 times and I was both completely correct and way off base. This one is a lot of fun. Probably could have wrapped up the love story with slightly more? Idk it was all around a fun time.

Detective Rav Trivedi is romance hero goals. Tall, dark, and handsome. Suave and sophisticated. British accent. Wealthy. And impeccably dressed in designer suits. As a minority gay detective with the NYPD he’s a bit of an unusual cop and has had to fight to be respected. So he’s excited to take the lead for the first time on an investigation. But the first suspect he interviews is rock star Jack Vale who is hot and troubled and way too vulnerable.

Their forbidden romance was both sweet and hot  with lots of fun banter via text and some open door but fairly vague scenes. The setting was luxurious. And the murder mystery actually ended up being fairly twisty. The ending caught me by surprise.

Rav and Jack are the cutest and I really enjoyed their romance.

Thank you to @Netgalley @stmartinspress and @minotaur_books for the chance to review this ARC.
