Prepare for some relentless name-dropping. I've never been a fan of the self-help genre. My comments about Dale Carnegie's negative representations of women in Lincoln The Unknown are reinforced in How to Stop Worrying. For example, "...you don't have to be a college professor... I once met a housewife in Chicago who told me how she discovered herself... (p.55)" or "... I certainly give him credit for trying to live with her for twenty years." Or, "if you are a man, skip this paragraph it won't interest you..." and then tells the story of a woman who tried to kill herself (p.155). Reeeaaaallll nice.
His very obvious glorification of religion was extremely off-putting (p.112). For example, "...unless you have chosen to live the hard way, without God." There is seriously a WHOLE chapter devoted to the anti-worrying antidote of religion (and although he says "Allah" maybe two or three times, he's really talking about Christianity).
O.O
Yeeeaaahhhh.

This book came into my life at a time when I was worrying so much about the future.
I started reading the book and after the first 3 chapters, it had already changed my life. Probably because of the way it was written or something. I've read tons of books, but none seemed to click like this one.
A Must Try for those who are constantly worrying !

It has some actionable tips, but the author talks about his faith so much to the point it sounds like a sermon.
Some helpful principles, some quite cringey ( I know it’s a old book
I have yet to finish How to Win Friend and Influence People despite starting it a number of times. I decided to give How to Stop Worrying and Start Living a try and finished on the first try. There's a reason why Carnegie is so popular even today. Of course there were parts that were outdated... But the most surprising thing for me was how relevant much of the material was despite its age. I personally prefer my self-help more research based. However, for a quick pick-me-up with some practical advice, this book fit the bill nicely.
