I adore this book. Was literary what I needed to read at this time. The book is incredibly fun and refreshing. Amy is such a interesting character and bring laughs to my evening. I wasn’t expecting this book be this good. So I was a very pleasant surprise. Definitely will be checking more of the work of the autor. If you looking for a fresh and light book this is the one you need to read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the access to this ARC
Thank you to Penguin Group Putnam and Netgalley for an ARC of this book! I’ve willingly read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been a fan of Lizzy Dent’s since her debut novel and was thrilled to get a copy of her newest book, THE SWEETEST REVENGE. And as a TV-lover who interned for a talk show, learning that it was based in the television production world, just made me even more excited to jump in.
Amy has escaped to London after a humiliating video of her post-breakup goes viral, but the chance at getting a job similar to the one she loved and was great at in New York, has her breaking out of a two-year rut and teaming up with her screenwriter new neighbor, Jake, who is nursing some wounds of humiliation and grief himself.
I loved so much about THE SWEETEST REVENGE, including the actual revenge!, but the aspect that stood out to me the most was Amy and Jake’s (Is this a nod to BROOKLYN 99?!?) working relationship. Just their dynamic, the banter and how they quoted lines from TV shows to each other, had me laughing and kept me engaged enough that I flew through the book so I could see more of their interactions.
And, again, as a TV-lover, all the talk about TV production and the sheer creativity that goes into it, made THE SWEETEST REVENGE that much more enjoyable for me.

Points off for the “very seasoned” development producer not reading an NDA before going into pitch a show. Like all recent romance reads, the ending felt rushed. But it was entertainment enough for a day of shoveling and errands.
