A really great summer read, Amy Duffy is my new hero, funny and smart this book has it all.
Amy lives in New York has a great job and is dating her boss Chris (secretly) following a bust up with Chris and an unfortunate incident which goes viral online Amy leaves everything and moves to London.
She meta her new neighbour Jake who is also in hiding after a reality show appearance doesn’t work out and the two of them find friendship and someone who believes in them.

I keep trying to like Lizzie Dent but I have yet to find a book of hers that I love! I usually like aspects but haven’t found one that has really hit the spot.

I really liked the storyline of this one but I found a couple things frustrating…
I get that it is part of the story but I couldn’t stand the fact that an adult woman, who spends her whole summer with a guy who overcomes a social media fiasco, can’t go see her own family because of her tantrum. Grow up and stop being hypocritical. Amy’s treatment of her family and her tendency to play a little bit of the victim just didn’t sit well with me.

The banter in this book was fun and I enjoyed the ending of this book thoroughly! So I wish I could rank it higher but Amy bugged me.

This book was a fun rom com with lots of heart and some second hand embarrassment. This book has no spice but off the charts sexual tension and chemistry between Amy and Jake, I was rooting for them from when they first met.

Have you ever watched "Curb Your Enthusiasm" or even "The Office" and had to physically cover your face in embarrassment for the characters? This is how I felt for Amy Duffy in the opening chapters of The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent. I was so worried that the rest of the book would be a litany of face-covering humiliations that I literally put it down for over a week. Fear not! It gets less painful. And very charming. And very informative about the process for making television. And super flirty. And ultimately satisfying and super fun!

I loved the setting and getting a behind the scenes look at television production! This book gave me Emily in Paris vibes as Amy is an American who relocated to England and is working for a British company.

Amy is so delightfully awkward. “I laugh once, loudly, and then feel my cheeks burn. Again. Then I curtsy for some reason, and flee.” I really grew to love her throughout this story.

This was a quick but very enjoyable read and I will definitely be checking out Lizzy’s backlist!
