Contrary to some negative reviews I'd seen from a couple people I follow on Goodreads, I found this to be a solid, fun Avengers book. I don't care whether there are kids on the team or not - and this particular run is extremely self-aware about that dynamic - what I care about is how well the characters' voices come through. In this case, Mark Waid is doing a great job of introducing characters to new readers while keeping those of us already very familiar with them interested in the steps of the story. Seeing fights with Kang and then Annihilus drawn out but mostly wrapped up within the first two volumes felt like a well-done Monster of the Week feat, and timely for me considering Kang's recent reveal in the MCU via the Loki series.

I'm dreading having to get through more Civil War II issues but the completist in me insists on sticking with this whole run.

Weaker than the first volume, largely due to a lack of focus on the interactions between young members of the team. I didn't really care that much about the missions, so wanted more character stuff. Still, readable, and I'm willing to continue.

An okay random Avengers book. At least in this one Nova is not awful. And Ms. Marvel is mostly written and drawn correctly. The newest Wasp has some possibilities. But all in all there is just not that much to this one. Decent enough writing, good enough art. 3.5 of 5.

The characters had a stronger bond in this one and they’re fun together but I feel like this series is lacking the stronger plots I expect from Marvel. Main points were: all-new, all-different wasp and do we trust vision or not? That was it really. Artwork is great.

This was all over the place, very confusing and didn’t tie in at all to volume 1. Not a great overarching narrative.

Not as convinced by this volume as I was by the previous one. Some of it fills like fillers while we wait for Marvel's newest reset button Civil War II. I did enjoy some parts though, like the fight at the end of the last issues. I'm not sure what to make of Wasp, I still don't like Nova and I'd love for more Ms. Marvel, but I guess we'll see what happens next after everyone's finished throwing the Idiot Ball around?
