Very detailed from the time they traveled to Michigan all the way through her death. I hadn't realized how much of an impact she'd had during those years. And how misfortune she was in her love life (FOUR!)

Interesting rags to riches story. The embracing of entitlement from her early adult years made it hard for me to look totally favorably on Marjorie Post. She still seemed greedy to me. Ms Post did do many kind and gracious with her wealth, and did contribute significantly and direct management of her wealth, so she obviously was smart, hard working and diligent, even if sometimes silly and irresponsible. She lived through many times of rising and falling fortunes over an 86 year lifespan. I enjoyed the descriptions of her accomplishments much more than the nuances of her four failed marriages. Was fascinating to read about how ridiculous Women’s status was, even with great wealth!

An excellent book about Marjorie Post. Many have heard the name, but I will admit that I had no idea the depth of her contributions or philanthropy. From Battle Creek where she helped her father make the first Grape Nuts and Postum in a barn all the way to the Russian Embassy, Marjorie Post lead an amazing life. Always ready for any challenge she rolled up her sleeves and got to work. From opening kitchens and buying clothes for the hungry during the Depression, to being the ambassadress to Russia and Belgium just before WWII, Marjorie Post was a force who left a lasting legacy. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book.
4+⭐️ Quite a long, detailed historical fiction…some parts were really enjoyable, and I read this slowly for several days. I wish there was more on Hillwood in DC, but it was a lot of history for the author to tackle!
