Miss Post had herself a life. Which anecdote is my favorite? The four husbands? The yacht, jet or multiple homes? The Russian bit? The philanthropy, generosity and homes that are now museums? kinda getting her Winter White House but maybe not the way she expected it? No, my favorite anecdotes were about the names. First husband was Ed - second husband, also Ed, but hey you can call me Ned. And when she and Ned really thought they were having a boy they would name Ned and when it was a girl they named her Nedina. Also, let’s call it General foods because that’s what it is.

I like the person, but I did not love the fact turned fiction storytelling or the focus on marriage. Her husbands were the least interesting thing about her.

I enjoyed learning more about Marjorie! It was interesting to see her entire life from a young age to when she became old. I just didn’t find the story very relatable, so it was hard to become invested in the book. It took me quite a while to finish because I just couldn’t buy into it. I did enjoy the way the story was written.

Interesting woman but I struggled to engage with the writing. Not for me.

Fun summer read

I never knew anything about Marjorie Post except that she was rich. Loved reading how she got her money and what she did with it. It was a bit self serving but still interesting. In a time when women were not allowed to do anything in business, she was pretty impressive. She ran through a few husbands but explained them all away. It was a fun read.
