Really enjoyable read. You find yourself rooting for her to find love throughout the book. Her fabulous lifestyle is the stuff of fairytales, yet she remains a relatively relatable and down to earth narrator who rose from nothing to become a cultural institution.

I do seem to be stuck in society stories. This one had more to it than the Mrs Astor volume. It’s labeled historical fiction and there is a lot of invented conversation. But sometimes it read more as a biography with facts, dates etc. It even got a bit stilted in the prose. My takeaway is that Marjorie is so complicated. I’m not sure I would have liked her or not. She veered from great generosity to extreme overindulgence and excess. Maybe she had 4 husbands because she can only be enjoyed in small doses.
Starting this book I had no idea who Marjorie Post was, but after reading this one I feel like I know her very well now. A rags to riches story about a real life heiress, philanthropist and overall lovely woman. This story spans from her young life and when her father started the Post company and through her 4 marriages and divorces as well as all the good she did for people along the way.
