Quick listen, follows the life of the daughter of C.W. Post, Marjorie Merriweather Post, a feminist before bras were being burned. She sat on her father’s board of directors after he passed which was unheard of in the 20’s. She designed and help execute Mar-Lago and made it the masterpiece it is before someone else bought it.
Historical fiction about a fascinating woman. The writing felt repetitive at times but overall I enjoyed learning about Post’s life. I would enjoy visiting her house and museum next time I’m near DC.

This style of storytelling was giving me Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo energy, but a historical fiction written about a real person.
It followed her life and provided fabricated detail that draws you in and makes you want to know more. So much so that I did so e research on her while I read as well. Definitely recommend this read.

Ugh. So Marjorie was brilliant, but all of her marriages were ridiculous. I am so tired of her man troubles. This book was written as if she were perfect.
I have to admit that I had to think about this a while before figuring out what I thought about the book. The marriages, and the insistence on telling their story as such a major part of Marjorie Post’s life, was—what? Off-putting? No. Disappointing? No. Sad? No, no, no. Different—Yes! Needed? Yes, yes, yes. And that, I realized, is the power of the book. Marjorie’s insistence on intrepid happiness—we women should read more books that share this drive, this refusal to settle, this all encompassing embracing of what is right, needed, true. Yes, I do wish there were more about the other aspects of her life, but I’m glad to read this celebration of all her choices.
