I was surprised by how well this book captures the scientific process! Some of the points inspire me in my research as well.
Unfortunately, I feel like I came away from this book taking away less than I had from the other Foundation books. It has interesting settings, cultures, and problems for the protagonist to face, but at the end it feels like the reader comes away with little.

Would make a great study in the prejudices and ideologies that fuel empire for the worse.
I picked up 4 of the Foundation books cheap at the Evansdale Sunday market and finished this within the week, in between travelling and catching the sights.
I am about 90% sure I haven't read this before (I've read some of the others already) because it was surprisingly new. Though I guessed some things before I got to the end...

I liked it but didn't love it. The main character really is a jerk and that bothered me a bit. It also dragged a bit, but eventually got to the point. Really enjoyed the ending.
A cracking pace and good read, especially for sci-fi/thriller fans. Great twists also. Worth your time.
Prelude to the Foundation reveals a new personality of Hari Seldon, and you will fall in love with him as the protagonist of this book. Dors Venabili makes for the perfect sidekick and companion to Hari on his journey to discover/develop Psychohistory. Prelude was easily the funniest Foundation book packed with Hilarious situations that Hari kept getting into. There was definitely some tense moments that I found myself in a panic for Hari and Dors, while the tension was shortly relieved with a humorous or emotional encounter. Thus far, Prelude to the Foundation kept my attention the longest and has come to be my favorite of the series. I am eager to open the cover of Forward the Foundation.
Hard to believe I've never read any Asimov. Classics. I very much enjoyed it and will continue with his works.

This book took a different tack and essentially explains why and what led up to Hari Seldon's grand plan. It has an interesting double twist at the end (actually a triple twist if you read between the lines on the final two or three pages.
