This is a perfect fun and steamy read! I always prefer dual POVs in romances, but I felt like Shay and Dom both communicated very well (which makes sense for people in radio/communications), so I felt like I got enough content from both of them.

Though the start was a bit slow, the pace picked up quickly. There were some times where the plot stretched a bit,
like an office sending two people away for the weekend, but to a place with only one bedroom?
but overall, it didn't ruin the story or break verisimilitude for me.

The banter and tension between Shay and Dominic is so great, and I'm glad that it stayed that way through the entire book. They have such great chemistry, whether rivals, friends, or more; it gives the book a grounded feeling -- they are who they are throughout the narrative.

I liked the side plot of Shay's life (her mom remarrying, her best friend possibly moving away), but it made the book feel like her story alone. I would have loved to have some current Dominic drama, but that may have cluttered the story a bit.

Overall, I'm trying to find something to criticize, and I can't. It was emotional without being sad or dark, it was lighthearted but covered real issues with race and gender, and it was steamy and romantic while being vulnerable and fun.

YOOOOOO I'm kinda shocked by how much I enjoyed this book. There were issues with it, for sure, but in general I really loved the height of the conflict between Shay and Dominic-- I thought it went past miscommunication (the first one was miscommunication. I'm talking about the second conflict here) and dove into what each of these characters were insecure about and combined those insecurities with the plot of the story. The flow of coworkers to enemies to cohosts to fwb to lovers was SUCH an evolution and whirlwind that honestly worked for me? The whole thing was in no way realistic, but escapism is not for the realistic.

I also appreciated that this was an interracial couple, and though I liked the sprinkle of Dominic's Korean background, I thought it was all a little surface level. Even though I could spot the final big gesture romantic scene from a mile away, it did not make it any less enjoyable !! It was very cute

Shay's character development was one of my favorites. She knew she wanted to be in radio, became complacent at her job, and her relationship and whole experience with Dominic and The Ex Talk helped her get out of that funk and into more of the 'unknown' which is just....REALLY resonating with me right now.

I so wish this was a dual POV but it's fine I love Dom and the cover is so cute and Kent can SUCK it.

Shay has worked for a public radio station for ten years when she gets a new coworker that she despises named Dominic. After a work meeting filled with pressure to land the station more funding, they begin a dating show on the radio under the lie that the two of them are exes who reconciled enough to give dating advice on the air. As the two of them get to know each other, like most forced proximity love stories, they fall for each other.

Some of the plot was hard to believe, the editing wasn’t great, and I think the millennial jokes were a little overdone, but this book was so fun to read. The banter, the sexual tension, and the moments of tenderness were everything. The ending was so satisfying. If you’re looking for something lighthearted, this is it.

I bought this on a whim because I wanted to venture out of my regular “thriller ways” and thought, the farthest away is a spicy romance.
I didn’t have any expectations except I didn’t quite think I would like it because I don’t do “mushy”.
I freaking loved this book. Everything from the enemies to lovers trope, the explanations of behind the scene of radio broadcasting, to the main characters being minorities.
I will be keeping an eye out on this author’s next novels!!

This was really cute & fun but also kinda lackluster for me (especially the ending). I enjoyed reading it, but I didn’t love it as much as I expected to based off the hype from booktok & bookstagram.
