Blake Crouch

As a person who loves Blake Crouch's work I was very disappointed with this book. I'm not a fan of Western period books to begin with but I figured if anyone could get me into the genre it would be Crouch. I was wrong. I would skip this book.

Gripping and unnerving tale spanning two time periods. Gruesome in parts with a tightly drawn story sucking you in. The historical character development stronger than the contemporary cast. Overall a compelling page turner.

I was so disappointed by this book. Perhaps it’s just not my type of book but I felt like could have been improved upon. I kept thinking they would find her Dad and when they didn’t it fell flat. Also so way would they have murder case be pushed through that quickly.

Ugh. You know when every possible thing goes wrong, and then things start going wrong that are ridiculous? Yep, that was this book for me. I gave up at 87% complete. :(

It was not scary but the plot is unsettling and gets under your skin

Like many of the other reviews stated, this book went a different way than I expected. I thought paranormal activity and rightly so since Lawrence was taking two paranormal photographers into Abandon, but that wasn't the case at all. I enjoyed this book, but by the end of it kept thinking it was missing something. Definitely not Wayward Pines or Locked Doors suspense but good none the least.
