I think the author made a mistake having Asher show a naked picture of Bex to her ex boyfriend - weird behaviour from a character that’s supposed to be possessive and crazy about the heroine. Wolf also made a mistake in Asher not being man enough to punch the evil witch who exposed Bex’s naked pictures. - Both these things had me almost getting the ick, I genuinely tried to rewrite what had happened because it annoyed me so much. Despite these things I kept reading and by the end could almost see how grief could make him do that to her, he grieved so much that he hated her as equally as he wanted her. I thought this was such a beautiful book about grief and love. Bex and Asher were meant to be, they seemed inevitable I could feel it through my kindle pages. Gorgeous book, onto book 3!

I love, love, love when a series gets better and Julia Wolf far surpassed my expectations on this book!!

Asher and Bex were tortured and angsty and so, so broken...it is truly destiny that they would wind up together or would ultimately destroy one another. There was no in between. Their story is one that once you pick it up you won't be able to put it back down, so buckle in and get ready for an emotional ride.

Through the Ashes wasn't anything like I was expecting. All the twists and ups and downs of this story were heartbreaking. Bex and Asher were both broken souls who needed someone to care about them, but also so lost they didn't know what they were searching for.

I don't want to say too much because reading their truths at the exact right time is what made the story so enjoyable.

While this book is full of emotions, it is also steamy hot. This is a time in your life when discovering your tastes and preferences really come out with the right partner. These two use their emotional outlets for finding out what their boundaries are and YUM! Ash and Bex are just yummy. I'm going to leave it at that.

While this is book two in the Savage Crew series, it can be read as a complete standalone. Bex and Asher's story is completely their own.

This is my first book by this arthur and damn why haven't I read any of her book's that's all I could think after reading this book. She's got a new fan for sure. This book literally sucked me in from the 1st page and before I knew it I'd read 10 chapters. I absolutely love bully stories and this one didnt disappoint in the least. I cannot express just how good this book was you need to find out for yourself. It's one I'd highly recommend.

Fuck that was intense. This book was heart wrenching. Asher and Bex are two very broken 18 year olds who cling to each other as everything burns around them. The two hook up at the very beginning of the book and then he starts treating her like he hates her. For about the first half of the book, she has no idea why he hates her, but once it comes out, oof. The two of them absolutely broke my heart. Damn this book was good.

I loved Start a Fire, but there was something special in the pages of Through the Ashes that made Bex and Asher my new favorite couple in The Savage Crew series.

Bex’s world is falling down around her and the whispers have started in the school hallways with a guarantee that it’s only going to get worse. She’s a good girl that does what’s expected of her until she hits a point where she needs to not be that girl, even if just for a night.

Asher is drowning in heartbreak and sets his sights on Bex to make himself feel something other than pain. He is a golden boy with a newfound darkness inside, and every ounce of that is directed at Bex.

Asher and Bex start with a fiery chemistry, there’s a lot more between them than chemistry, and all of those things set them on a path of wading through landmines. It’s not a matter of when, but who will be the one that imlodes everything between them. The author did a superb job of bringing these characters to life on the pages, delivering an impactful and deeply emotional storyline.

It only took a few pages before I was completely immersed in the Savage Crew world, and I didn’t stop until I read every single word. A mesmerizing blend of fiery chemistry, anger fueled tension that leads to unholy hotness, witty banter, so many feels, and tears were shed. I loved every single heartbreaking second of Bex and Asher’s story.

This story touches on some deep subject matters, and I feel as though the author did a wonderful job of treating these things with an honest portrayal of the devastation such things can bring to the people connected to those suffering from addiction.

Characters: Asher Beck and Rebecca Lim (Bex)

(Content Warning: virgin heroine, hero without consent takes nude photos of heroine after sexual encounter, talk of drug addiction, characters smoking marijuana, sort of cheating, sadomasochism, attempted sexual assault, murder and non acceptance of homosexual child)

Bex Lim is a shy nerdy girl with glasses, and one night she decides to go to a party she was invited to from her friend Cassie. There she meets Asher Beck, she has seen him around but she never paid much thought to him because he’s a popular jock and the popular guys don’t go for the nerdy girls. Bex is trying to enjoy herself and Asher starts up a conversation, which leads to her up in his room and her losing her virginity.

Bex is kind of seeing a guy named Elijah, but things are going great. They are hanging out at a party when Bex sees Asher again, and Asher is pissed because he had no idea that she had a boyfriend. He decides to get back at her by showing Elijah naked photos of Bex, that Asher took without consent when Bex was sleeping in Asher’s bed. Elijah gets mad and calls Bex a lot of derogatory names.

The next day Asher apologizes by sending her another pic with him and her in his bed, Bex is of course even angrier, and the flirting begins from there.

Most of this story was sad to me, because you see two characters dealing with losses, but finding each other through the pain.

I also wasn’t a huge fan of how Asher treated Bex at the beginning, especially because he was blaming her for something that wasn’t her fault at all and he made her feel guilty about it for way too long, then expecting her to make all of these sacrifices for him.

Gah, I don’t know how Julia does it.
You think you have the story figured out and then she throws a wrench in your carefully constructed thought process.

Asher and Bex were fire! Like – get the hose, call the fire brigade, we’re gonna burn this mother to the ground – H.O.T.

The emotional whiplash in this book had me reeling. I mean, I understood why certain things were felt, while others took me by surprise.

I really can’t say too much without giving away all the juicy details. But I can say: if you liked Start a Fire, you will LOVE Through the Ashes.

Fabulous reading, I’m absolutely going to be reading the last book!
