I just love the town of Three Pines and the cozy setting, entertaining characters, and funny dialogue. This book was actually my least favorite of the 3 I've read so far in the series, but I still really enjoyed it! It felt like a bit of a slower start to me, but I loved how it all came together in the end. I can't wait to read book #4, and beyond.

Love this series. I want to live in Three Pines - and the food! These books make me soo hungry when I read them. At the heart of this series is a study of human nature: the great, the good, the bad, ugly and evil. The only imperfection of this book was the betrayal (trying not to spoil) it seemed to come out of nowhere with no reason and while it was explained at the end it was irritating up until that point, to be told at the end instead of shown.

I am enjoying the Inspector Gamache series. I have fun now at the beginning of the books, seeing what the characters I know are up to. This one was interesting, because there were really a couple stories going on at once. It felt like you couldn’t lose focus for a minute or you’d be lost. But I also appreciate more of the reflections on themes related to God and faith interwoven into the stories.

I first read book #11 in this series unintentionally and was trapped. So I already know the villain but I didn't know how we got there. Glad I read this book and will continue to read the rest of the series.
UPDATE: Glad I decided to re-read this book in the order of the series. It makes more sense and now I can understand the characters more. And I have an understanding of the back story.

This is the third book in the series but the second I read. I WANT to love these, and I do enjoy the setting of Three Pines, but there are too many characters, and the mysteries are convoluted but not in a good way.
