Gory Details, A book I picked up by cover alone. Thanks to the Morbidly Curious Book Club™ pick for March 2025.

Science reporter Erika Engelhaupt Shares her insight after diving into the gross strange and morbid observant of our bodies and beyond.

I Love the set up of this book and how it is broken out into a plethora of categories. Steeped in science and facts. I could not put this book down.

This book was very easy to read and wrote in such a way that was not mundane. Definitely an overview of different topics that one could dive more into.

I Loved Erica’s humor in this book the gory topics at hand. The questions that were asked in this book really made one ponder.

The insect chapters were quite eerie and not my favorite, but very taboo and I love how the author brought a different perspective to this.

What being curious Is all about and how we benefit from such curiosities.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

Just wasn’t vibing with this. Described as being in the same style as Mary Roach, but I prefer Roach’s style much more.

The Atlas Obscura Finding Wonder selection for March. While the first portion treads ground covered sublimely by [a:Mary Roach|7956|Mary Roach|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1463591979p2/7956.jpg] and [a:Caitlin Doughty|7802044|Caitlin Doughty|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1586002535p2/7802044.jpg] (both featured in prior Finding Wonder selections over the past year), and some of the scientists-gone-bad tales make appearances in [b:The Icepick Surgeon|55867888|The Icepick Surgeon|Sam Kean|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620708433l/55867888._SY75_.jpg|87077429], the balance of the book is delightfully ooky, squirm-inducing, and darkly hilarious. It's filled with fun facts that I am tempted to read aloud at night as the better half is trying to relax, but have judiciously refrained from doing because ... well, my bedroom is more comfortable than the couch. I've also picked up a new discipline of inquiry and self-identification: benign masochism. Mwah-ha-ha!

There’s several chapters I didn’t particularly care about but otherwise was a fun read.
