I've reread this book repeatedly, and it's honestly one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. It makes me want to train a dog for S&R, too.

This started good, dragged in the middle and then picked up in the last quarter. I felt it took way too long for the serial killer side of the plot to really get going. I understand the author probably wanted to time to develop the romance and i think maybe i would have enjoyed that more if the romance was more interesting for me. I just didn’t particularly find their relationship dynamic that interesting but think it would appeal to other readers as it felt true to their characters from what i could see.
Also i get that Fiona has lots of friends, is well liked on the island and well protected by the cops and the FBI but i dont think i need to read every supportive conversation she has with all the above entities.
The serial killers perspective was interesting which is why i enjoyed the last quarter because thats when we get a lot more of his perspective.
Slight spoiler:
I found the final confrontation a bit unbelievable given everyone knows Fiona’s the target of this guy and the overprotective, bossy side her love interest has shown throughout the rest of the book, but im glad she got her closure.
Also my god did i hate that reporter!

This is a def a new favorite by this author!! I really loved the slice of life book but also enjoyed the romance and the dog/ tracking books and love the search and rescue twist.I think this book also had a fun mash of elements and i also love the small town vibes.

Another fun read from Nora. It played in my head as a movie while I was reading the pages. The characters, the banter, the tension… it was all top notch and only something you would find from Nora Roberts.
I found this “villain” to be quite creepy and very realistic with something you’d see on the news today. I loved getting his POV, as well as Fiona and Simon. It was a page turner for sure!

Another great book by Miss Nora. Like all lf her stand alone books, this one is long, almost five hundred pages, but it is well worth the read. Suspense, two serial killers, search and rescue dogs, and one very broody, surly woodmaker. Yep, ill be adding this to my Nora Roberts collection
