Another great book by Miss Nora. Like all lf her stand alone books, this one is long, almost five hundred pages, but it is well worth the read. Suspense, two serial killers, search and rescue dogs, and one very broody, surly woodmaker. Yep, ill be adding this to my Nora Roberts collection

Decent thriller/romance. I really enjoyed all the parts about training dogs for search and rescue. Wasn't my favorite as far as couples go, it seemed stilted, but the actual plot was pretty good.

So, I have never read a Nora Roberts book before and this is not the type of book I usually read, so I was a little apprehensive when I picked this up. But even after just reading the cover I was drawn in. I loved this book and am adding it to my favorites shelf for sure!

I fell in love with both Fiona and Simon and their relationship. I know that some people have said they didn't care for the book because of how rude Simon is, but I see him in a totally different light. Yes, he was rude throughout a lot of the book, but to me it came off more as blunt, honest and an extremely deep character altogether.

Fiona seemed lovely, outgoing and well rounded. I loved her quirks and her flaws and I love that Roberts made her a not so perfect woman, because what woman truly is.

Again, I loved it and I'll be reading the next Roberts I can get my hands on.

This book had one of the strangest relationship dynamics I’ve ever read. I love Nora usually but I struggled to get through this one. I honestly probably should’ve dnf’d.

Totally personal preference but I would not read this again.

Any book that has dogs in it will be loved, enjoyed, and devoured by me. It's science and the truth. Just saying.

The Search introduces us to a wide cast of characters. Among them, you will meet Fiona, Simon, Neman, Peck, Bogart, and Little Jaws. Kind of sounds like the Robin Hood gang. Two are people though and the rest are dogs. Not going to lie, the dogs were the best part and they were my absolute favorite characters in the book. Mostly because they are dogs and I am a huge freaking dog lover.

Back to Fiona and Simon. Well, she survived a serial killer and is looking for some peace and solitude. It's about freaking time because how many people can say they've gone through that? Not me. Then there's Simon and he's a pesky carpenter who isn't into the whole sharing is caring motto. Nope, he is all about privacy.

Until the day he gets a puppy and needs a trainer.

Now Fiona and Simon were cute. It was pretty obvious that they were going to develop feelings for one another. Especially when there's a dog involved. The only thing that bothered me about this book was the ending. It was just there and it didn't really feel complete to me. Like nothing happened and I just sat there scratching my head asking why.

For my first Nora Roberts book, I enjoyed this. The romance was okay, I kept getting thrown off by his aggression. Like he told her multiple times to “shut up” (context is helpful in this scenario, it wasn’t as malicious as it seemed) and he kept saying “she’s not beautiful” and at one point even told her she wasn’t beautiful?? Just bc she wasn’t his type but he was still attracted to her?? Like buddy you can be attracted to someone who isn’t your type it’s not a crazy concept.

The mystery part was VERY slow paced and the ending felt a bit anticlimactic? But I get that they were trying to make a point about the serial killer not going out in the “blaze of glory” that he wanted. It felt like this book focused a lot on the characters and less on the progression of the plot which had me caring a lot about the characters (mostly Sylvia and Fiona and the dogs, not so much Simon). I wish we got more from the serial killer’s POV.

Overall, I will be reading more Nora Roberts books.

Liked the setting, loved the dogs, didn't particularly care for the male protagonist, thought the final confrontation lacked... oomph, I guess. There's a lot of great build-up, and then boom, it's over. It was a fun read (did I mention I loved the dogs?), but it was far from my favorite.
