This seems like a n ice intro into a good long story. I enjoyed the use of the mob in this one.

I quite enjoyed this one, though it was by no means perfect. The odd assortment of villains with relatively minor roles (okay seriously, why does the Riddler even exist?) was fun but felt unnecessary, and the Godfather homage was kind of quirky but also seemed to have no real point. I had mixed feelings about the other characters:
- Aside from the "catfight" with Poison Ivy that looked like it was more about jealousy than saving Batman's life, Catwoman filled that "neither good nor evil" role pretty well
- Jim Gordon was Jim Gordon
- Alfred was Alfred
- Barbara and little James did their job of reminding us of the simple life the Commissioner leads at home
- Harvey Dent's character progression didn't really feel natural, and he definitely could have used so more complexity in his character for him to resolve that arc well
- Carla and Sofia were mildly interesting and were probably the most realistic and layered members of the Falcone family.

Now let's just talk about the ending for a moment. Without giving too much away, it was convoluted, and I'm not sure Loeb managed to pull it off. Sure it seemed cool for a moment, but then I was left thinking: "Really? Do I really believe this?". I'm not sure. I think it's time to pick up Dark Victory and see what I think.

A very tight-knit and entertaining story. The best Batman comic I've read yet.

My first Batman comic in a long while and I'm glad I picked this one. Such a wonderful tragedy on the page here - you can see where Nolan and company drew their inspiration for the Dark Knight films. It reads like classic Batman while still being new-ish and literally all of my favourite villains from the Rogue's Gallery are in here. I was very sad to see it end as much as I was sad for the ending.

Well, for starters, the artwork is atrocious. No bs. No hyperbole. It's hideous. There were times I found myself stuck on certain panels, just gawking at how unbelievably ugly these drawings are. It's like really, really bad fan art.

And the story isn't so hot either. And I'm talking about the overall story here, not just the crappy dialogue - because, trust me, there's plenty of that. I'm avoiding spoilers but let's just say Batman can't be both (1)the most adept hero/detective in all of comics, everywhere all at once, at all times to take down with ease any villain that presents himself/herself and (2) at a complete and utter loss as to who is systemically killing people on holidays over the course of an entire year.

Glad I got this for half off.

So many people told me how incredible this was supposed to be, so I went in with high expectations. I don't really read comics, but at least expected a decent story. the story was just so sparse and predictable. I guess people dig the art in this? I don't know.

Interesting piece. I'm not sure about the last few pages. No clue were given.
