Definitely the best book in this realm (so far) !! hallelujah Giddon and Bitterblue finally make it. And the potential queer arc for Nev and Lovisa?! Amazing.
I like the story a lot but some parts (esp when Bitterblue was missing) felt like it rambles on and on. Not my favorite from the Graceling realm, 3.5.
Loved it. Complex world, fantasy take on environmental issues and capitalism. Complex characters.

This was absolutely my favourite book from the first four books. Okay, i wasn't sure i was gonna like it at the beginning, i wasn't sure i liked how the characters were behaving... BUT, as soon as i got into the book, and got to know the new characters, i couldn't stop reading. I read the whole book in 6 days total, because i was so hooked.
And the reason i say that this is my favourite is because of how the story is told. I absolutely loved to get to know the story from the point of view of all the different characters, i think that that was a very good choice of Kristin Cashore! I really mean it, it gave such a richness to the story, to just try and understand what was happening to one character by reading about what another character was seeing, hearing or feeling.
10/10

This was good! More mystery/ political intrigue with a bit of romance thrown in but very light. The world building and cool creatures was quite a highlight of the novel. Wish there had been more romantic development between Bitterblue and Gideon.
