Absolutely one of my favorites in a very long time. So unique and special. Made me want to live inside the little world of this novel. I’d like to read again.

Hard to get thru, but things all came together in the last hour of the read.

This book takes on some heavy stuff, but it does it so superficially that it still comes out cute and wholesome. The plot doesn’t really go anywhere and at the end of the book basically nothing has changed even though tons of things happened. Every character other than Emma’s immediate family is so flat they might as well be ghosts.
Which is funny, because the hive-mind-ghost-narrator are the most distinctive voice in the book. I wish they would’ve leaned into that aspect more.

Definitely took some points of for how everyone in Everton seems to be a bumbling idiot? Story wouldn’t work if they had some common sense.

This book was everything I thought I needed and everything I didn't know I needed. Wonderful look on life and death with just a touch of history and magic.

Quirky, sweet, life affirming, and heart-warming. I enjoyed it :) For fans of Abbi Waxman, Amy Poppel and Jo Jo Moyes

It was giving Carl Hiaasen with the quirky characters and six degrees of separation. Having ghost narrators was an interesting choice?

This book came to me at the perfect time. Much like Emma, I am a college grad returned to my hometown, teaching children while grappling with the complicated realization that my dad is much more complicated than the idolized version of him in head. Needless to say, this book resonated deeply with me, and I highly recommend it to those looking for a feel-good novel.
