Today, I finished Dark Matter. It is very philosophical and is categorized in fiction/sci-fi/thriller type as it deals with alternate realities. It is a very fun, fast, and easy read. As you're reading this book, assume you know nothing even when you think that you do. It is not at all what it looks like! Even up to nearing the very last chapter, Blake Crouch will switch the events on you, and you'll realize that you knew nothing all along--Or at least that's how I felt. For some the ending might seem incomplete. To me seemed the perfect way to end a book like that. Enjoy the ride!

Loved this! I didn’t like the start - the synopsis gives the first 30% away BUT the rest of it is a constant ride with intense twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat and it’s very easy to read quickly. Highly enjoyed this and had a blast in book club.

So a Stace decided to pick up a sci-fi book. Stupidly I know, but this was based on a recommendation so I thought I'd give it a go. The problem is I'm not a sci-fi girl - that's not the books problem, that's mine.
Also, I listened to it in audiobook format which I didn't think was the best idea considering how intricate and interwoven the story is - it's easy to get confused. Once again a bad choice on my part, not the author.
As you can see, it is hard for me to give this book the rating it probably deserves. I see the cleverness and thought given to the plot and the story telling prowess, but I level it with this, it wasn't something I'd pick up more of and that's a big tell for me when rating.
Experiments into different genres is something I'd encourage - you never know you could accidentally find one you love. This, however, was a bit too far out of my comfort zone and the scifi ship has sailed. Maybe in another universe, there's a Stacey who loves sci fi and raves about this book, but unlike our protagonist I'm never going to jump into a giant multiverse box to find out.
