Writing drags at the start as his writing always does, but insightful lines towards the end

"In other words, let’s face it: Life is basically unfair. But even in a situation that’s unfair, I think it’s possible to seek out a kind of fairness. Of course, that might take time and effort. And maybe it won’t seem to be worth all that. It’s up to each individual to decide whether or not it is."

This got to be the best book I've read so far this year. It never occurred to me to read this before even if I have read a lot of his other books. I always think he is sort of an interesting person and I'd love to know what's going on inside his head. I'm glad I got a glimpse of who he truly is as a person. He is also incredibly strict and disciplined, it's admirable! I'm glad I read this.

An easy and pleasant read (no surprise since its Murakami). I don't know if it was the original writing or the translation, but there were an unpleasant amount of cliches.

Not exactly the story I thought it would be and interesting nonetheless. I am not sure listening to it while running was the right choice, as the stories about running issues and pains made my own pains and worries more present. (Also, wish the narrator didn’t sound like a white American.) The closing of the book was spectacular however and overall glad I’ve finally read this one which has been on my shelf for so long.
