AN ICON!!!!
my bad for not knowing about her, but im glad i do now. my sister is very into sports and the support of women’s sports so i had fun talking to her about bjk. of course she knew exactly who she was and adores her. i got excited when she started talking about women’s soccer and when they were fighting for equal pay bc that’s something i remember happening. my sister would go on rants about it so i was very informed.
great book, i recommend it to everyone.

What a life & what a force for change. Loved this memoir.
Learned a LOT. It was a bit too long but very readable. Love all the pictures but do wish they were placed where relevant in the narrative.
Everything I could have wanted. Extremely detailed and personal, spanning her entire life and career. Lots of tennis (maybe too many tennis details regarding individual matches/tournaments, as it was a long volume), but also tons of activism and ideas for the future. At times funny, at times heartbreaking, but always interesting and heartfelt.

as every nonfiction narrative i've gone through so far, there are parts when it slogs on and on.. and on... but that's just because that's how life works. anyway I cried at the very last paragraph so it was amazing and showstopping and brilliant and any negative thoughts were immediately undermined sorry.

I really liked this book! I knew little to nothing about Billie Jean and it was so fascinating to hear her tell her story
I listened to this book on audio and I really really enjoyed it. It was read by Billie Jean King herself (I love when celebrities read their own books). In addition to learning the life history of a real sports hero and fierce civil rights advocate, it was amazing to remember all of the societal boundaries she broke through. This is especially true for equal pay for women in sports as well as in the workplace in general. But I also appreciated hearing about some of her struggles with identity, food and the media. Listening to it, she read the book with emotion and even getting choked up at points. It was a very special read and I am so glad I listened to it.
