Going into this, I knew basically nothing about BJK outside of knowing she played tennis and is an LGBTQ+ icon. While this was a bit long, I am walking out of this listening experience (I HIGHLY reccomend listening as an audiobook bc of the emotion you can hear in her voice) in awe of everything BJK has done for sports equality and her activism. Her story is so important, and I’m so glad to have chosen this book by complete chance. BJK is a hero and living legend, and I admire her so much for all that she did to advance women in sports and women generally. Her story of being closeted and outted was so heartbreaking, but I appreciated her giving context into how different the times truly were then. I just loved this book, and admire BJK with my whole heart.

This is a brilliant autobiography, absolutely unflinching and engaged with Billie Jean King's genuinely extraordinary life. She's achieved more with 10% of her life than most could dream of in all of theirs.

Great book, beginning was a bit slow with a lot of young stories but picked up after that.
