I grew up with the little mermaid and played the Disney VHS repetitively within an inch of its life. This book had big shoes to fill- and did the job well. It’s a cute, nostalgic story that has the nice warm and fuzzy ending you’d hope for in a romance book. That said, there’s enough different from the source material to keep the book from being too predictable and boring. It won’t reach my list of top books for the year but it was a good read and something I’d recommend to a friend if they like non-smutty, contemporary romance book.

Music has always had a special place in my heart! There was even a time I wanted a job in the music industry. But the one thing I hated about the industry was all the big wigs caring more about money then the music or the artists. It’s a tough industry to be in, and still stay true to yourself.
So Ariel’s story hits my heart bad! Not only does the big wig not care about her, but said big wig is also her father. That’s even harder! In my opinion, her father does not deserve a redemption arc (spoiler alert, good thing it’s not his story lol), and he is everything I hate about the industry. But Ariel breaking free of it and finding herself is truly inspiring, & I could not get enough!
And then Eric, not selling out his values for fame is extraordinary. & his love for Ariel, & them spending most of the book fighting this fated romance is just ridiculous, and I could wait for them to be amazing together!
I just loved this book with all my heart! 💜💜💜

this is my favorite of the meant to be series, HANDS DOWN!!! i absolutely was devouring all the easter eggs and ties to the little mermaid - it's one of my favorite disney movies, and i think córdova did a fantastic job! i tend to not read a bunch of romance books with MCs who are famous and/or pop stars just because they aren't typically my favorite, but i loved this one. seeing them travel together was just so much fun, and it gave me all the best vibes (it also reminded me of some of the 1D and 5SOS fanfiction i read back in the day... so a little nostalgic if you will lol) i LOVED melody and her sisters so much - like i could easily read a book for each one of them (especially the queer ones because YES PLS). and eric's band??? I LOVED THOSE GIRLS. the friendship and found family vibes between them all just really made my heart happy. i am so glad i picked this story up and i cannot wait to read more from córdova!!

representation: Latine MCs

⚠️: toxic relationship (FMC & dad), death of parent, gaslighting, emotional abuse, car accident, alcohol, injury/injury detail, grief, abandonment, vomit
