That being said, it included things that were necessary for the story to progress—I just found the delivery to be a tab bit tedious. I only felt eager to keep reading towards the very end of the book.

** Note: You do need to read this series in order.

How to Break an Undead Heart is by far the best in the Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series to date. I devoured this extraordinary novel in one sitting.

WOW, the title should have been a dead give away, but I wasn’t expecting what happens to happen. The author left me an emotional wreck and I’m still getting tears in my eyes, when I think about what happened.

The story takes place close to where How to Claim an Undead Soul ends. Not much time has passed between books. Grier and company sparkle off the pages. Boaz is out on a confidential assignment, Amelie is working through her house arrest, and Linus is trying to help Grier get knowledge on her necromancy skills.

Their are a few different conflicts introduced in this one. The master is still trying to take Grier under his care, Linus and Grier are trying to understand what Grier can do, and Boaz is being sketchy.

In the last book Boaz said he was all in and it seams like they where finally going to be TOGETHER, but she has some concerns that he’s not as in as he said he was, especially since he’s talking to Amelie all the time and only shows up when Grier is severely hurt. I really liked Boaz and was hoping for the underdog to come out on top, but what Boaz does made me say Goodbye.

As for Linus; I still don’t see him as a lover, but the possibility is open. At this time he’s more a friend and teacher. I liked that we got to see more of Linus and his different masks he wears and his Wrath. The combination is interesting and Linus plays more of a role in this installment. He gets Grier out of the house, shows her a different life, and helps her grow. With what Grier went through she never got to have the life she dreamed and now she learns that she will never be the same Grier and it’s time to let go of many things and move forward.

So much happens in How to Break an Undead Heart. We learning more about Grier, get to meet new creatures, and have our heartbroken. Edwards ripped out my heart at the end. I’m not sure if I’m glad she did it, but I see it needed to be done. Grier needed to let go of so many things. No one likes to let their first love go, but it’s something that happens in life.

I’ll leave you with this. My heart broke for Grier and Woolly, the house, so have tissues ready. I cried the last 15% of this book, but I couldn’t stop; because it’s such an important and impactful moment for everyone involved.

By far, this is my favorite of the series. I love how much more Linus's character is being revealed, I want to learn all of his different masks. I really just want to bundle him up and give him all the love the world has to offer.

What I'm hoping to see in the next book:
DEFINITELY some heavy flirting between Linus and Grier
Grier becoming more powerful and being able to defend herself. She's genetically more advanced, I hate seeing her have to rely on other people to come save her from trouble.
More on her family history

Finally bye-bye to
SpoilerBoaz! Make way for Linus baby!!

Book 4 let's goooo!

I'm screaming after reading the latest installment of the series. It was felak of a better word amazing I didn't think that is where it would go when I started reading this series but I am so happy that it has. I should warn you if you are going to continue reading that it ends on a cliffhanger  but I like that it does. Whatever else I can say about Hayley Edwards' writing, knowing when to end a story is never going to be a complaint. I also just have to say that I am excited that finally Linus is the love interest. Those guys have just been dropping off book by book and I'm hoping that he won't be the next one to drop off and then we get another guy because he has been the best so far. Very excited to read the next installment.

My heart broke for Grier I knew something was up but not that! So much betrayal I just can’t wait for the next one

Just have to keep reading!!!

Be still an Undead Heart!!

I’ve been a Hailey Edwards fan for years, having started with the Black Dog series. Grier may not be as physically imposing as Thierry, but she’s still pretty awesome!! I’m loving her world, with the tiny glimpses of the Black Dog world here and there, and the unique way to look at the magical world!!

How many people think Boaz is Grier's soulmate? I just don't feel it. Maybe it's because I think promiscuous guys are disgusting. Anyway, I like Linus more.

This book took us deeper into the paranormal world that even Grier was surprised existed. Linus took her to his home in Atlanta to get some tests done on Amelie's blood. It probably would have been a nicer trip if the Master would stop sending vampires after her.

She learns of new enemies too. It's getting really dangerous to be Grier.

How to break your readers heart more like. Whhyyyyyy?  I honestly wasn’t keen on the romance twist at all and then that ending 😭 i’m still holding out hope for a happy ending to the series. Also Meiko was a great character even though she was Mischievous

This book straddles the line of whether it goes on my favorites shelf or not. Much like the other books of this series. I listened to the audiobook, and it is definitely entertaining. I read the spin-off series first, so this book is a bit spoiled on the overall story arcs, so I generally disregard those when rating. However, I do feel this whole series is plagued by not being full stories. Each book is an installment in a greater story arc. I can't really say this book has a real beginning middle and end. There were bits and pieces of all of the above. The characters are fun and generally interesting. The audiobook narrator is just alright for me. I think if I were reading the book on my tablet, the main character's voice would've had more sass at times, and less naiveite.
