Nope - still don't get it. Really didn't enjoy the books at all, but felt I needed to read them to understand all the hubbub. And for anyone who can't see the parallels to those poor written Twilight books - open your eyes.
Dang. What a great trilogy. Highly addictive. Like just-read-all-three-books-in-one-week addictive. And it's not addictive for the reasons people might think. Yes, there's sex. And yes, it's get kind of kinky. But there's also a story and romance and character development. In the third book, you learn even more about their personalities, especially Christian. You even see Ana learn to stand up for herself and retain her independence. I really loved their relationship and all the messed up (and also normal) stuff they go through and figure out together.
I loved this series and am extremely sad I'm all done with it. But I do feel slightly optimistic after reading the last couple pages of this book... Although I'm not sure how I'd feel reading this from Christian's perspective, but it could prove interesting.

And, now I can resume my regularly scheduled life. I finished Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James this afternoon. The whole premise of the books was completely compelling and difficult to put down. Did I have issues with it? Yes. Did I still thoroughly enjoy reading it? Yes. I think the amount of sex they were having was completely unrealistic, but in the end this is fantasy.
preface: i’m a twilight super fan and i began this series based on its connection to that so this review will contain many references to twilight.

is this the best book I’ve ever ever read? not even close… but did I have a good time reading it and was I absolutely sucked into the story?? oh 100%
Anastasia will never not piss me off. She has all the worst qualities of Bella with the added bonus of absolutely zero filter. She instantly says everything she thinks no matter how out-of-pocket it is. She literally cannot get through a single conversation without bringing up something about Christian‘s past. like imagine if every time bella and edward had a conversation she said “clearly this is your trauma based on murdering those people” or “remember that time you died of spanish flu…thoughts??”. It was just so irritating to me throughout the whole series but especially in this book.
On one hand, I understand that she is supposed to be a complete outsider to his world and be perplexed by his lifestyle (bella), but at a certain point, it crosses into just stupidity and blatant obliviousness.
Honestly, i feel really irritated by Christian as well. He is so harsh towards himself (which I get is the point— very Edward of him) but it feels very childish and manipulative when she’s begging him to admit that he cares and he just says “I told you I have no heart”.
If the story was just their relationship, I don’t think I would’ve made it to the third book. I got this far, simply out of curiosity from cliffhangers and the secondary mystery.
I don’t really, like the way either of them talk to each other. I truly think neither of them is ready for a relationship of this caliber and are just kind of stumbling their way through it and hurting each other in the process.
In terms of the writing, I really enjoyed the emails. I think they are a classic mark of this book series and maybe my favorite part of the whole thing. However, I am not sure how I feel about her inner goddess. I think it’s an interesting way to show consciousness and inner character growth throughout the series, but I feel like it wasn’t followed through on as good as it could’ve been. In the first book I really liked the inner goddess and thought she was a quirky addition (like in a Lizzie McGuire kinda way) but now I feel like it’s really forced and just a weird plot device that the author has to keep up with.
Overall, i probably wouldn’t recommend this series to a friend unless they were really into lengthy romance series that somehow also move really fast (twilight lol) with characters that are very difficult to like.

Another amazing book to the series. This one definitely opened up more and filled a lot of the gaps about Mr. Grey. I was so happy the way it ended even though I just wanted to keep on reading. Ana has also exposed more of her personality and strength. One of the best series I have read and wish the author would write more from Christians point of view.
I did really like this series. I did however find Ana extremely annoying in her lack of knowledge about sex. Even I had some knowledge of BDSM before hand.
